First, why do we want to 4 bet pre-flop? I assume we would call a pre-flop shove but I sure don’t like calling a 5 bet shove with QQ against any opponent. Is this bad/nitty thinking? Why?

We don't 4-bet because we might get 5-bet and have a tough decision, we 4-bet for value against his wide 3-bet range and to take initiative when called so we can play better OOP and with more favorable SPR for our likely overpair.

Second, why is villain’s range heavily weighted to AQ or AK? If he 3 bet us pre flop won’t we see AA, KK, QQ, and even JJ and pocket 10s just as often?

Many more combos of the AQ and AK, esp with card removal. Plus our read is that this V loves to 3-bet IP, so AT-AK are def in his range.

Finally, lets say the flop was 8 9 10 rainbow. Are we still going to want to play for stacks with this action? What if the flop was 4 5 6 rainbow? I guess my question is how important is the OESD vs the over pair?

Depends on SPR (stack-pot-ratio). AP, our overpair is not loving 89T, but there's not a lot of those cards in his range. 456 is really not much in V's range at all, and I'd stack off with QQ for any SPR 7 or less.
