This hand ruined my day and I can't stop thinking about it.

Hero: JJ $250 eff
I open to 20 UTG+2, MP Calls, LP calls.

Flop (Pot: $60): Q84
I lead out $30 and both players call (FML)

Turn (Pot: $150): 2
I check. Both villians check around.

River (Pot: $150): 6
I jam $200. First villain calls and second folds. He shows 66


I'm super mind ****ed. I honestly don't know what I was doing on the river. MY BR is super low so I'm not playing my best at all. I understand if I jammed turn I would of got it through, but their floats on the flop are a FD a lot of the time. I figured I turn my Jacks into a bluff? They both checked turn so don't have a flush there. I figured I'm most likely to have the flush since I lead flop and checked turn.

Anyways though, the fact that he had 66 there, I'm actually betting for value though the whole time? I was ahead the whole hand.

Is this a suck out?

dont bluff LLSNL. river you gotta check and hope somehow JJ is good. i wouldn't expect a Q to fold on the river.

preflop i would make it 25 and bet bigger on the flop like 2/3 pot or 3/4. turn check is fine. river is check/give up time.

Check/fold river. It makes no sense for you to have a flush here given turn action. Also, if you were going to bluff river to represent a flush, it would be better for you to have a spade in your hand.

Pretty bad to be honest. Obviously his flop call is really bad, but river jam is bad as well.

Also, move down in stakes if BR is "super low" and a trivial hand like this can ruin your day

River jam is horrible, nothing worse calls, I guess we can maybe bluff off a random qx hand from bad player, if we check and someone bets we normally lose

I really dislike river. Why turn JJ into a bluff? I don't think you're deep enough to get V off Qx.

Yea that was my first reaction too. Not saying JJ CAN'T be in a flop cbetting range here... but it probably shouldn't be. What is the cbet supposed to accomplish? Do these guys have wide enough ranges and continue w/ worse often enough for it to work well as a value bet? (I mean, obv in retrospect one guy called w/ 66, but do we have actual reads about this at the time?) Because we don't get them to fold much equity; really only some gutshots and hands with 1 over. Every hand ahead of us is calling, and are we really planning to barrel someone off Qx 50bb deep?

And check river, as everyone else has said.

You can get value/protection on flop from spades, 8x, T9, Ace high, 65, 76, 99, TT, etc.

Betting isn't mandatory though. You could go either way.

Good advice if your goal is to only ever break even.

River jam is terrible. I dont hate the flop bet but once they both call Im kind of done with the hand. Check and decide river IMO
