100NL: KT in 3bet pot

Hand
I, $375, raise to $5 at CO with KTo
folded all around to V at bb
V, $600, 3bets to $15
I call

Flop: K K 4 r ($31)
V c/c my $15 (I think hes trying to pot control with QQ/JJ, possibly AK/AA but I have been seeing him play straightforward poker..vbet, vbet, vbet, no tricky check from him)

Turn: T ($61)
check, check (I think if what i put him on is correct, I only can extract more value with slowplay OR hopefully let him hit his 2 outers, not aces though)

River: 9 ($61)
V bets $28. (I think hes trying to thin vbet here? As my turn check shows that I could have a pocket too)
I raise to $100
he snap

Final Pot: $261

Table Image
We both have not shown any bluff yet, although I have been raising from LP widely and I can tell hes noticing it and thus the 3bet?

V has been raking in pots but nobody caught him bluffing yet. I personally thinks he has the goods most of the times. And as I said, have been playing straight forward poker, vbet vbet vbet.

Biggest Problem?
Pot is so small for my nuts compared to our stack sizes of $1k combined.

I missed a street of value but I tried to compensate it by making it a little more than 3x his bet on the river.

Would you still bet the turn with my table image and his flop check?
Or able to over-raise more like $175 on the river, and that would be my first overraise at the table

Please suggest without swayed opinions from spoiler..

Re: 100NL: KT in 3bet pot

I think you played it fine in the moment. I'm pretty sure you didn't maximize the opportunity to stack the villain but that is easier said than done.

Now that I really analyze the hand and such, here's my thought. You put him on a range of QQ/JJ/AK/AA. This villain is a straightforward player.

On the flop, when the bet gets called, if he is straightforward, he could be a) calling and reassessing what you do on the turn with his underpairs, b) trying to get to showdown for cheap with AA and reassessing what you do on the turn, c) possibly waiting for the turn to check raise you with AK.

Bet somewhere between 1/2 to 3/4 pot. If he calls, then I'm possibly going to showdown mode and trying to get to the river for cheap. At these stakes, if he check raises you, he probably has AK and you are in trouble.

When you hit on the turn, of those options and hand ranges, when I bet a) he can fold his underpairs; b) fold his AA's. Not too many LLSNL can fold their AA's and c) possibly check raise you/ or just check call you to the river if he's not that aggressive with AK.

The best thing to do is bet 2/3 to 3/4 pot. If villain has a, he either folds and you miss only one street of value, which would have been the river. If villain has b, he's more than likely to call down to the river again because most people don't like to fold aces. If he folds aces, then you actually have a decent, thinking player at the table. If villain has c, then you can possibly have the opportunity to make a large pot. If he c/r, easy game and ship.

At the river, I'd pot it. If he's come this far, he will probably pay us off with his AA/AK.

Re: 100NL: KT in 3bet pot

checking flop is fine imo

come turn, i'm betting 1/2 pot. We checked flop and are in position so betting turn looks like a steal and can easily be called by 88-AA in this spot. We also set ourselves up to extract max value from TT, KQ, KJ and AK. Betting turn even sets up a situation where a crafty villain can go for a c/r on turn.

Come river, raise any villain bet to a touch more than pot sized if villain bets out otherwise, bet 1/2 pot on river.

Re: 100NL: KT in 3bet pot

I definitely bet turn here.
If he folds the turn, just double barrel more bluffs in the future.

This deep, I just really prefer to apply a lot of pressure against capped ranges with a highly polarized range. It allows you to get max value and forces your opponent into very difficult situations. I bet 20 on flop (pot on turn = $71), 60 on turn (pot on river = $191) with Tx, QJ, backdoor flush draws and trips+, and River-Nash-shove the river with a few combos of air and nuts.

That's assuming villain isn't going to check the nuts on the Flop. Obviously, his range has to be capped for this to make sense. =P
