1/2NL AA SB Preflop Size
I had Aces in the SB. There were 4 limpers. I raised to $20 preflop and took it down. I been playing a tight game but according to some players, they might see me as a loose preflop raiser as i was raising quite a bit preflop. Even a guy remarked on how many times i raised before the flop but each time i did, i had a hand, but didn't show.
My general rule at 1/2NL with premium holdings is to raise 5x + Limper. But if there are say 2 limpers, i would just raise to $15 instead of $14. In the blinds however... i tend to raise a bit more as I'm out of position.
When I saw the 1st guy limped. I'm thinking okay raise to $12. But as 3 more limpers came... the number would be $18. But since I'm in the SB... i wanted to raise it a bit more as I'm OOP. I raised to $20 and everyone folds which is perfectly fine since i won the pot.
Now i'm looking at the pot. There was $3 preflop. There were 4 limpers so theres $11 preflop. When i made it $20 total... was it $30 preflop. Not $31 because i was the SB and put in $1. So for anyone to call... its $18 and pot is $30 which makes it a bigger than pot size raise preflop.
What would be your standard raize size here be? If i played online, i would just pot it which would be $15 total. I have done $15 here back a few years ago but when i did this, i usually got 3 callers at the minimum. So i made it $20.
Is $20 too much or too little here? When i thought about it... i thought that was a great size as it was more than pot size preflop as it will cost $18 to call when theres $30 there and its not too much. I know there are ppl here who mention they raise $15 minimum with a premium hand even without limpers so i assume guys like you would be making it $25 minimum?
