1/2

V(BB,$150): Just sat down like 25-30 mins. Play ABC so far.
Hero(BTN,400): Tight image. Usually open raise if I want to play. Rarely limp.

Preflop:
Only one MP limper. Hero makes to 12 with QcQd. SB calls, V calls, MP folds.

Flop ($38): 2c5h8h

SB Checks, V bets 22, Hero calls.

Thought process:

Weird bet. V may has over pairs

Turn($82): 9s

V checks, Hero bets 40. V raises all in. About 75 more for hero to call. Hero?

Raise flop, you can get value from 8x, 99-JJ, draws.

Never folding against a random player getting better than 3-1 on a call.

+1. Raise this flop. There are many straight draws and flush draws. You're not going to love a lot of turn cards but you're way ahead of Vs range right now.

Also, I know that there's only one limper and $12 might seem like plenty preflop but I don't think that $12 is enough to help you define your opponents' range.
V could easily have limp called with 76s or A9hh. Point is that in most games, players will throw in another $10 to 'defend a limp' without thinking much of it. And, given that you're unlikely to fold your over pair, don't let them crack you on the cheap.

Right now, I can't rule out straights and two pair for V, and that's partly bc you raised so small preflop and bc you just called his flop bet on such a wet board.

I'm not folding getting 3 to 1 here but I also don't like how this played out.

you are getting 3:1, this is a must call, but expect to see either 89 or 67 a majority of the time.

Raising flop looks good, also if you did call the flop and he checks turn I would have bet in the $60 range, $40 gives him too good of a price.

@Dutch, I am fine with $12 pre, all games are different, I am fine with a 3 way pot on the button with QQ, if there were more limpers i would raise more but you don't want to raise to $15 and win $5 with QQ, i look to raise the maximum that will get me some action but not a 6 way pot, some tables that's $10 some it's $20.

I call his turn ship but don't love it.

I hear ya on pre. $12 sometimes gets no action. That we are button might mean we can raise a little bigger bc it looks a little more like a steal.
But, $10-20, probably same thing depending on table dynamic. Pre is prolly fine. I like a little bigger but that's not really going to change much here.

I think the flat call OTF my real concern. I can put V on 43s, 76s, 85s, 64s, all Axhh and a few others hands, too. Lots of pair/gutter/flush draw type hands.

Dirty hands that crack over pairs. And I not likely to fold this hand, at these stacks. So I don't love just flat calling, letting him get there, and then putting in money behind.
I'm not raising flop bc I'm scared to play poker in position. I'm raising bc we're likely ahead and should go for value here while we're ahead. Board is sloppy and V could have a wide range.

+1

V needs to be about ~250 deep here for me to start thinking about a fold.
