9 handed

Hero HJ (250): 21yo TAG, I had been decently card dead this session but when I did have a hand I would almost always pfr.

Villain BU (400): middle aged guy, seems decently competent, hadn't seen him get out of line yet

OTTH

Preflop: there are two limps ahead of me and I make it 12 with KJ
V calls, the bb calls and the limpers call Pot: 61

Flop: K93 Checks to me, I bet 40, V calls, all others fold Pot:141

Turn: 7 I check, V bets 80, I call Pot: 301

River: 3 check check

My main concern is with the turn check. I did not think that this player would be willing to call three streets with KT or worse so I decided to check the turn, allowing him to barrel with FD's and to set up a thin value bet on the river if he checks back. Thoughts?

I'm betting turn to get value from draws, then checking river. With these passive live players you have to play pretty straightforwardly. Against a more aggressive player it might be better to play by check calling twice.

You're 21 years old which means you never have it so when you do have it you need to bet. I'm happy to check river to induce bluffs though.
