1/1 flopped flush, facing river aggression 1/1 flopped flush, facing river aggression

1/1 London, relatively deep game usually playing with a £3 straddle. V is an older white gentleman, not played with him long - is about to transfer a table and has just coolered someone to win a large pot. Hero has tight image, starts hand with around £310. V covers.

Limped to hero in CO who has JThh. I make it £8, V calls in BB.

Flop K53hhh. V checks, hero bets £10.

I thought about checking here but I think by betting I look weaker and can possibly get paid on later streets if V is a non-believer. Also checking here gives a free card to Qhx/Ahx/ etc - but realistically wouldn't they call flop anyway?

Moving on, V calls flop.

Turn 3d. V checks, I check behind.

I am checking behind again here to try and show weakness, perhaps to induce a bluff from V on river. Feel like I made a mistake with this though...

River 6c. V now decides to lead for £40, hero snaps.

There was nothing here in V's range that given the way he had played I could really fold to, or so I thought at the time. Of course there is the bigger Ax flush, but with two blockers to that I wasn't massively concerned with it, especially with his flop/turn checks. I doubt he sticks around with a random 3, especially with his call OOP pre flop. Having thought about it since though - what does he do this with on the river that we beat?

Any thoughts appreciated.

No merit in checking to induce bluffs?

Bet turn.

Definitely call river. Not sure raising accomplishes much, but if you did indeed bet turn to induce a river bluff because you think he's bluffing, you should raise river. Fine if he folds -- never show.

Please put pot sizes on all streets.
