One from the memory bank: FW $4/$8

Kind of fuzzy about all the details of this hand, since it happened months ago, but feel like I might run into guys like this as I try taking shots at bigger games. So...

Villain in this hand is a crazy guy. He sat down around an orbit ago, and has probably raised half his offerings p/f. I've seen him raise A5o from MP a few hands ago, and barrel a gutter ball into two players, only to run good and get there OTR.

Hero is BB w/ AQs, villain is UTG.

Pre flop: UTG raise, MP and CO call, I 3!, all call.

Flop (4 players, 5.75 BB after drop): AK6, 2 diamonds (I don't have a diamond).

Hero bets, villain raises, fold, fold, hero 3!, villain 4!, hero call

Turn (9.75 BB): 3 rainbow

Hero check, villain check

River (9.75 BB): J rainbow

Hero...?

Check/call? Bet/call? Fold is out of the question vs this guy.

bet-call and make a note about villain's willingness to jam for a "free" turn card or make value checks with ridiculously too strong hands.

Is checking to induce a spaz-bluff a horrible idea? I'm almost certainly good here, and his hand looks like a crazy-played flush draw. Of course, I may have shown too much strength with the flop 3-bet for him to try and take a shot.

If it is, 5betting the flop to induce a spaz 6bet is probably a better idea.

Once vs a similar villain I donked the turn and announced "I don't give free cards." (otf i 5betted and he six betted). he called and folded the river ui. I played it that way only because I knew he was raising for a draw with the free card. He would've called otf and raised the turn w anything big lol. I'm not saying to do that here I just thought that that was kinda humorous.

If I had a sicker read on the guy (ie: he only raises big draws OTF), I'd happily 5-bet here.

It seemed borderline insane to free card play with two players who haven't acted yet, so I figured the four bet meant he at least caught something.

...but lol guess not.

Very few opponenents I have faced are willing to 4bet or more in order to buy a free card. This opponent seems like one of those types of players. I would b/c and feel good about it.

Since you don't know him I would lead out here but if I learn that he'll 4-bet for a freebie then I C/C against his likely busted draw.

I would 5 bet flop. As played i would prob check river, unless he's segue bad enough to call with like JhTh. I also don't think river is very close fwiw, but hard to say since I prob wouldn't be in this spot

Yeah, I've seen a few opponents like this and I am trying to take the correct lines that maximize winnings / minimize losses.

Similar hand occurred when I popped something like AJ from UTG, few cc's, loose aggro moron over-cc's, flop comes Jxx 2 spades, I bet, he raise, I 3!, he 4!, I call, turn is like a K, check through, river is a blank, I check, he sprays one more out there, I happily call.

I definitely don't want to make a habit of losing my mind w/ TPTK, though, else I'm as bad as these guys.

Why did you check the turn?
