My partner and I are vacationing in Oregon, and, on a lark, we decided to play low-limit hold'em at Spirit Mountain for the afternoon. While we were playing 3-6, we learned of a cheap NLHE tournament that evening. My partner said "Can we can we can we?" while bouncing up and down, and I said "Sure." So we both bought in.

I wound up binking first place for the princely sum of $300, plus seven $10 player bounties and one $50 casino employee bounty, less dealer toke.

Not to nitpick this too much (I'm very well known for saying that Hustler 25 is basically the Nirvana of poker), but any good player should be able to identify a great game even if they lose 6 racks in it (and it's quite possible to burn off 6 racks at Hustler 25 while playing decent poker). Results have nothing to do with whether a game is great, or bad.

I'm gonna overly nitpick your attempt to nitpick appropriately and say that results have *something* to do with whether a game is great or bad.

It was a good-great game and I lost a couple racks

Tonight I shall be dressed as a Tinder profile. Hopefully everyone swipes right.

The result of a session of poker is extremely close to totally random.

If I win 20 racks in a game, the game was likely great. If I lose 10 racks in a game, the game was likely great.

If he had lead out and bet every street, you would have lost 2.5 BB. You lost 2 BB instead. You were also free-rolling to lose less since you might make a correct exploitative fold. What's to cringe about?

Unconfirmed wizard, that was me though. Nice playing with you. How did you know my 2p2 name?

Yeah, I ran pretty damn good yesterday, especially against him. With my run of cards, even you would have looked like a competent player.

Not drinking at the casino much anymore, only been close to drunk once in the last couple months. You should try it.

Not if you play 1000 hour sessions.

So, like an hour's worth of EV at the Oaks?

You guys are being too serious for a Friday imo. We need some silliness. I'll start:

Spoiler:
made you look.

In other news, I'm still not finished reading "Franny and Zooey" which I began reading over ten years ago. Every time I pick it up again, it just bores me to death until I put it down. It's like I know something bad's gonna happen but I just can't handle the boredom of imagining Zooey in the tub reading that stupid manuscript over and over and over.

In other other news, I can't wait to go skiing. It's been too long.

Also, thread title would be funnier if it had a reference to someone eating corn on the cob "the long way."

A Halloween Special:

UTG straddles, UTG+1 blind 3-bets, a couple of callers, I 4-bet with QQ, and it’s at least five ways for four bets to the flop.

Flop is AKx.

Which I thought was scary, but so did everyone else. My queens ended up winning unimproved.
