I bet river 3 ways on 78989 board. One fold and lady in BB tanks for a bit to study the board. After another 15 seconds or so she calls. I flip my AJdd expecting a chop most of the time. She looks at my hand and mucks face up. To my surprise when her cards fan out a bit I can see her 33

5 minutes later the guy on the other side of her asks about the hand and if she misread the board. She said "No, I was hoping there was a chance we chopped"
Some guy called with 33 on almost the exact same board texture (TT99x) last night at OL 3. I also got to play this gem vs him:

Open 99 and spewy guy 3! SB. Fish calls BB and I call.

Flop KJ9dd and I raise after fish folds. SB call.

Turn 5 i raise/cap. He calls.

River 3 he x/c AT

Of course it's hard to give them a gold medal when they leave a winner.

Speaking of bad players, this one was pretty funny.

8/16 O8 hk

Killer otb. I limp in EP, MP raises all-in to 1.5sb, LJ completes to 2sb, button calls, blinds fold, I call.

Flop: T83 (4 players, 1 all-in)
I check, LJ bets, button folds, I think for a second.
LJ flashes A2. I think some more and call.

Turn: 6 (3 players, 1 all-in)
The whole table erupts in laughter. I check, LJ bets obviously. I tank.
LJ now flashes 4. Whole table laughs again. I think for 5 seconds and call.

River: K
I c/c. LOL.

The records obtained by the AP under the Freedom of Information Act show Giardina was a habitual poker player, spending a total of 1,096 hours — or an average of 15 hours per week — at the tables at the Horseshoe casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in the 18 months before being caught using three phony chips in June 2013.

He was such a familiar figure at the casino, across the Missouri River from his office near Omaha, Nebraska, that some there knew him as "Navy Tim." But they may not have known he was a three-star admiral and second-in-charge at Strategic Command, the military's nuclear war-fighting headquarters.

You can sleep tonight; the Navy is awake.

The state investigator's report also said a review of surveillance footage revealed "odd behaviors" by Giardina at the Horseshoe.

"Giardina was observed taking cigarette butts out of public ash trays and smoking them," it said.

^^Well if you're going to slum it, slum it all the way. I'm surprised he didn't go for the wads of gum in the urinals.

He was given a written reprimand and ordered to forfeit $4,000 in pay.

The Navy chose not to pursue a court martial because they were uncertain they could get a conviction with the evidence they had, officials said.
Right, because it's not like they had his DNA on the underside of the stickers on the counterfeit chips...

Probably hiding in OOT and not playing poker.

I order some food at the poker room. The server tells me the bill is nine dollars. The actual bill is only $8.45 (there are discounts and taxes that apply). Fair or foul, for the server to round up the bill to the nearest dollar at a poker room?

I will go with fair. They don't carry coin change in my experience

Except that he's certainly not expecting anyone to pay $9 total, he's expecting a tip. Seems like this is a way he is angling to get a bigger one. Also, even if they don't carry change, they certainly could accept it for payment.

Assuming the server just wants to give a whole number, they obviously can't say $8, so fine to me.
11-23-2014 , 05:04 PM
Just give them a ten and tell 'em to keep the change. I mean, that's pretty much what you were gonna do anyway, right?
11-23-2014 , 05:54 PM
More fun to be mad about it, as well. Two birds and all.

If the food is discounted, you should tip based on the full price of the food.

Unfortunately I have gotten the stinkeye even when doing this.

Since the usually Forbidden Topic of tipping has been raised here, I’m going to ask a question.

As far as I know, tipping $1 per pot is standard. But lately I’ve been seeing more and more people routinely tipping $2. Has the rule changed and no one told me, or am I just playing with generous people?

My standard, which is no means normal is (assuming LHE)...nothing on preflop wins or c-bet wins after a prf unless the pot is 3+ ways. $1 the rest of the times (other than small limped pots) unless it is a huge pot (almost 1 rack or more) or if I get insanely lucky.

Or if I've been drinking a lot, then I seem to tip more.

I tip on every hand if there is a flop (I only play time raked game)

If the hand takes a long time to play so that it pfecents the dealer from getting an extra hand out I usually tip extra. I play lots of split pot games which take a long time to deal so I also tip eztra when I scoop a pot (as the dealer would have gotten at least A dollar from
Each player if the pot was chopped).

I do this if its 4+. Also tip an extra dollar to nice dealers when they deal super fast.

Since she told me $9, I gave her $12. If she had told me $8.45 or $8.50, I would have given her $11. Some servers will present you with the bill; others give you an exact figure. I feel like I was angled, yes.
