They even threw in a 6-bottle carrier for free, so I'm going to say the shopping trip was a success.
I like it when a plan comes together. I bought all of the above yesterday- altho the Rombauer was $32-
and found the new 2013 releases of Mollydooker. Here's what I had last night.
This wine is simply the essence of Merlot. It's not complex, nor is it refined. It's just a powerhouse of fruit-packed wine that I can't believe is drinking this well, this soon. I'm amazed that Sarah and Sparky continue to craft wines of this caliber for less than $30 a bottle.
The nose on this wine foreshadows the palate. It's like grabbing a cluster of the grapes, squishing them in a closed fist and then taking a whiff. The color is purple with a ruby ring around the top of the pour. Then you get to drink some of this stuff.
Wow! What a luscious and long-lived wine on the palate. I could say that it has a blackberry and currant taste, but really this is just what a ripe Merlot should be. If I was gonna do a seminar on identifying the grapes that were used in a given wine, I'd choose this one for showcasing Merlot.
