Actually JTs was the most likely hand I expected him to have up to the river, because I wouldn't have expected him to play any of the other hands this way

Doesn't that mean that his range is exclusively JTs?

I guess I don't understand the dynamic here. If you don't think Hero ever has a value hand here, more action is warranted on the flop and turn.

Let me rephrase that --

JTs would have been the least poorly played hand in his range. That doesn't mean there isn't a high likelihood he misplayed a whole ton of other hands.

Yes.

Also to be clear, from my perspective, I don't think there is any hand in his range that hero played correctly. If hero takes this line, it again falls in that category.

Yeah, I think we're getting into leveling wars here that just aren't practical. In my experience, if you are a somewhat thoughtful hero and take a really weird/unorthodox line against a thoughtful, winning villain who is holding a top-end hand, you're going to get a call near 100% of the time. I mean, I'm marginally thoughtful and I'd do it just for the +EV of information/curiosity.
