Yeah I thought so
Can someone take me inside the mind of true hit n run artists? The guys who will play literally 20 minutes if they win, lock in wins as small as 3-4 bets, who honestly believe they are winning players.
What is it like to be them, to be that confident that something is true? What do they tell themselves during the 30 hour sessions when they lose 5-10 racks?

Re: MAY(be) 2p2 will still be here tomorrow LC/NC thread.
Triple barreling against the lineup you described seems pretty bad.
I don't think i've ever seen someone lock in 3-4 bets. Usually its that they win a monster pot and rack up 10-20 bets ahead and call it a day. No idea why.

A lot of those people are long term losers.
If I was a long term loser, and I took down a big pot as soon as I sat down, I'd call it a day too.

Assuming villains are calling the flop with ATC (which on this flop is probably close to true), then if it's a mistake to bet the turn, it's also a mistake to bet the flop.
On hit-and-running:
Psychologically, it makes sense to me. If your happiness is a bell-shaped curve based on your win/loss, and it lasts for the remainder of the day, (I think this is psychologically close to true), then it makes sense. If you could have 364 days of very slight happiness and one day of extreme pain/anguish, you're going to be happy most of the year. People just want to be happy for the day/session when they're playing.
And since poker pain diminishes as you go to the extremes, it makes even more sense. I think we all get numb as we reach some point of massive loss, at which point additional loss doesn't really add to our pain.
People assume that your poker happiness is correlated 1:1 with the dollar amount you win/lose in the long term, but I don't think that's true. I think there's a large psychological barrier between being up $50 or down $50. There's not much difference between being up $400 or $500 or being down $400 or $500.
People just want to go home feeling good about themselves, feeling like they did something positive, even if it's minute. There's nothing wrong with that and seems normal to me.
Edit: BTW, I'm not suggesting that people SHOULD hit-and-run. I'm just saying that as humans we're probably biased towards doing something that makes us feel positive about ourselves for the near term (a few hours/the rest of the day/etc.).

Re: MAY(be) 2p2 will still be here tomorrow LC/NC thread.
What I'm interested in more than anything is how good they must feel, safe and secure in the knowledge that they have a full proof system figured out. One of the last snarky things I can't get myself to stop saying is "what's it like?" after somebody just soul rapes me. And that's what I suppose I'm obsessing over lately. Cause it's certainly not over figuring out how to play half decently, which I have completely forgotten obviously.

You are of course correct utility curves are not lines, they are...curves. I completely understand why they do it. What I want to know and perhaps experience is that idiotic state of ignorant bliss.

I think we're all already there.
If you look at the game of life, unless your name is Mark Zuckerberg or leo doc, you are probably playing sub-optimally and constantly making small, dumb decisions to lock up small wins of happiness. Eating an ice cream cone, telling your boss off, getting your girlfriend pregnant at 15, etc.
Mark must wonder what it's like to be us and why we're so retarded.

The villains are doing something bad. In fact, it is even worse b/c this could be the day they're super-focused, have found the table that fits their style, or maybe they found the softest game of the month. Thus, they could be robbing themselves of an epic win based on sitting in a way better spot than normal. Instead they hit a pot and leave. That's great for you. Why doesn't that cause you bliss?
Instead, you're mad. I'd examine that. Why are you mad that someone makes a bad decision at the tables? It seems like your wiring is backward. You know you're not immediately entitled to the money in his stack, right? As a pro, you're more likely to get a good bit of it when he comes back later. How is it that a guy happy about a little win and racking up is an insult to your hard work as a poker pro? You know why he feels good and leaves. You don't make this mistake. That should make you feel good as you are nearer the apex as a predator. Find a way to feel good and profit.
If good things for you make you feel bad, that is problem.

I've done that. Taking a shot at 20, first hand was a boat. Then lose a couple hands and decide to quit while I'm still winner.
Or, lose, lose, lose, down a buy-in, lose, lose, lose, down almost a second buy-in, and make a comeback. Get out at even or better.

It doesn't make me feel mad or bad, really. I mean, a little, but I more than make up for that watching hilariously as they get stuck 5, 6, 10 racks in a game and play for 2 days straight. Trust me I do.
What I really want to know is if there is some way I can flowers for algernon myself into just being...happy. There was a house episode about this also.

Re: MAY(be) 2p2 will still be here tomorrow LC/NC thread.
I don't know how to explain the hit n run artists, but I must be the only limit player who has big losses because every other player is astonished whenever I buy in for three racks.
Why so much? Wtf, man?
