live 8: turn value check

9-handed 8/16 at HG

Villain is fairly solid, maybe folds too often, will bluff in spots (not this hand), a bit of FPS. He probably thinks Hero is pretty solid.

Pre-flop: Hero has AKo
Hero open-raises UTG+1, Villain calls in BB.

Flop: A74r
check, bet, call

I'm thinking Villain has a pair, probably A. If I bet turn he will likely fold.

Turn: J - flush draw
check, check

River: 8r
Villain bets, Hero raises, ...

Re: live 8: turn value check

I wouldn't play this hand like this vs. most 8/16 villains, but in this case.....nh?

I challenge you to find a HG 8-16 player who will fold an A on the turn there, my $100 to your $10

Looks like you've adopted some FPS yourself. Just bet it.

Sounds like a suckers bet, but if the bet is on, I'll open muck my a-k.

If albacorela sees you do that at HG then he gets $100. Easy game.

Going back to the hand, if you are going to go all FPS, isn't it better to check the flop?

This...

But I think betting TPTK is probably more profitable in the long run at these limits~

Please don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to encourage the FPS here, people call down 3 streets with all sorts of hands.

Re: live 8: turn value check

yeah seriously tuna i may be out of touch with the local 8/16 games but i just can't imagine checking back the AK ball here. If you want to check back some aces, do it with like ATo or something.

Re: live 8: turn value check

I think this is really really bad. Your hand is face up as pretty much 88, and if BB b/f Ax, you just lost at least a whole big bet.

Yeah HU your range here is so much wider than AK. And the J is a good two-barrel card so he'll likely look you up here with worse.
