Not just talking about the last 6 weeks, but it does slow things down-- even for us bottom feeders.
P.S> HBO GO is perhaps the greatest thing ever. Game of Tits rules!

Re: July LC/NC -- See you in Vegas
Guess there's not a lot of new money coming in. The casino pulls millions out of the poker economy every year. Over time, lots of poker rooms will consume all their "fuel" and shut down, like dying stars.

Re: July LC/NC -- See you in Vegas
There used to often be 3 20 games, a 40 AND a 60 game (all LHE) going at the same time. Now it's as pope says. I think that a lot of it is the economy bec I notice the absence of a great many former regs. Some I knew to be in real estate, auto sales etc but even some doctors are gone.

I consider the preflop chart a little too vague. Example: Tight game, 3-5 players to the flop. Chart recommends playing any pair in middle position (cutoff, hijack, lowjack) and raising 99+. The chart doesn't seem to account for changing openraise frequencies if there are less limpers in front. Like if I have 77 and it's folded to me in the hijack I'm obviously raising instead of openlimping.
Also, and this is a more "in general" critique, but it seems like the book's recommendations for openraise ranges are a little too tight in late position. I guess the book is establishing all of the ranges under the notion that there are multiple limpers in front.

I think the recommendations in the sb are WAY too nitty. The same thing might be true for the bb also. But I'd have to check again because I never look at those charts anymore.
It's very rare to be in late position in small stakes games with no limpers front of you, with a hand worth raising. Even after I read thru SSHE a few times, I was still open limping hands on the button that I definitely should have been raising with. Most of the other players made the same mistake when they were in that position, so I had no idea that it was a significant leak.

Re: July LC/NC -- See you in Vegas
Played 3/6 last night at Riveria. There were 4 or 5 regs when our group started to populate the game and one of them tries to tell Doug that he's a pro and says something about lessons or his blog or some such. This is amazing given that our end of the table had Doug, then Jesse, then Captain R, me and, finally Hammering Hank. Poor sob never adjusted to our capping with A5o or J9.

I asked him to put it in my phone. Here is the link he gave me, but I'm not sure if he didn't just give me a BS link.

The posts in the Boosty Blog being made by someone named Laura is somewhat of a clue, though.

Cap'n R must be tightening up his cold-capping range....no more A2o?

There is a poker god. The Cap'n was on my right and I had A2 twice. Won both hands, but tbf, he was only involved in one of them... with a pairs of queens.

Re: July LC/NC -- See you in Vegas
By 3/6 you mean $3/$6?
Aren't there better games in town for all you high rollers what with WSOP going on?

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that they picked a game/place where they could drink their rake's worth.
And not care about the money, ldo.

Re: July LC/NC -- See you in Vegas
Well another day of giving money to morons. Seriously I should get some sort of philanthropic award for this.
I backraised for the first time today (at least that I remember). It caused one of said morons to pound the table with a fist and leave the game for a good 20 minutes. Here is the hand:
Two limpers, table pounder (TP) raises, button calls, SB call and I call in the BB with 8h4h.
Flop comes T86, two hearts. SB bets, I call, two calls, TP raises, button calls, SB calls and I 3!. I bet a blank on the turn and a small heart on the river. TP clearly had AA. He didn't dare berate, but I kinda wish he would have.
