in a worst-case scenario you can buy it at the store and return the one stars sends you. they usually don't take 4-6 weeks in my experience, although they might for electronics--i never use my FPPs on anything but books or bonuses anyways.

At my current pace, it will take me 3 more years to accumulate enough FPP's to get a book by Tom McEvoy.

I saw an Avatar that looked interesting - found a picture from Oaks on my highest win ever at 6/12 and I am now using that as my Avatar - apologies to the other poster for copying ($1044)

I never win more than $850 in a 6/12 session.

I read with some sadness how some people within the forum are struggling, so I decide to make a post to either tell people how things can turn around, or to rub it in that I am running well. Take it as you will...

So I arrive and cant get a seat playin T/20 limit, so play 2/3 NL... First hand I play, end up all in on the flop with the NFD and get there vs a set, top two, and a lower FD... Thats A$750...

Maybe 40 minutes later, I call a EP raise with KQss (flame away) two calls behind me. Flop JsTs4d... There is a bet, I raise, all of a sudden all four of us have our money in the pot... Its my Royal draw vs top set vs middle set vs KK... Turn was a brick, river was a baby spade... Ship it...

One and a bit hours, 400BB's profit playing NL compared to what would probably have been -30BB playing limit... I ordered a vodka redbull... life was sweet...

Carry on then....

He has not yet, but I haven't talked to him since before Thanksgiving. I'm sorry Thanksgiving has already passed, but how about an early Merry Christmas to you!

And likewise to you, my friend.

This old PJ post about variance of pushing small edges may be of interest to SSLHE folks.

ideally this philosophy is good; realistically, taking that viewpoint is going to lead to becoming much more passive than is ideal, imo (e.g., nah I wont raise TT in the SB here because my edge isnt that good plus an overcard usually comes)

unless you have serious anger management/entitlement issues i dont agree with that kind of thinking.

I'll be able to purchase a book with FPP's 4 months before you.

on good days i can get a tom mcevoy book in about 6 hours

then again i haven't put in serious volume for a while and don't plan to until next year (supernova chase 2010, let us gogogo)
11-30-2009 , 05:01 PM
I should accumulate FPP's faster as I move up - I think about 200 of my 250 FPP's have been accumulated at 2c/4c. Now that I'm back at the nosebleed limit of 5c/10c, I might be able to purchase a book in 2010.

A few more steps up (are there even levels above 5c/10c?) and I might even make Silver Star for a month or two next year!

I'm 97% convinced that Agent Aaron Pierce is walking around the Bay 101 mid-stakes hold'em area right now.

The funny thing is that the MSers who post here are awesome; knowledgable/smart, funny/entertaining, helpful/patient, etc.

Do they slum it here because they're awesome, or are they awesome because they slum it here?
11-30-2009 , 06:00 PM
They use 2+2 to enjoy the company, community, and chitchat. They don't use 2+2 as a way to wave their epeens and brag about the stakes they play.

Neither. They're here because they enjoy good company and interacting with folks that are serious about their game. Prolly doesn't hurt anything that we're a grateful lot as well.

Soapbox moment: I'm pretty proud to be a part of ss: one of the most polite, understanding, civil and generous forums on 2p2.

BBB and James- take a bow.

That's why I'm here...

oh, the company/community/chit chat part...not the other stuff.

For awhile now, I've been meaning to drop a line to those that were here circa 2002-2003 (and that are still around) and ask what the place was like. That could be fascinating conversation...

Of course, that would most likely start with, "Back in my day..." which would classify that person as old - not that there's anything wrong with that.

Just had a look at the MSLHE forum to see what the fuss is about. Must say some of the concepts in there are "interesting" in re pre-flop. Will not elaborate.
