Bet again?

8/16 9 handed.

Villian is younger kid. He has raised a couple times since sitting down. Seems to be loose passive pre.

First two pllayers fold, he raises, folded to me in CO and I raise AsKc, everyone folds and the villian calls.

Qd6dJs...I bet, he calls.

Qd6dJs3d...He checks..what is my play?

Re: Bet again?

I don't like a bet here on a three flush with no pair. I'd take the free card.

He's likely calling with any pair with diamond draw and do we fire on the river again when we miss?

IF you bet the turn, you should check a non-diamond, non-ace/king river. Any pair will call at that point, so you never get a better hand to fold, and a worse hand wont call.

I like betting the turn and taking a free showdown, betting on A, K, 10 non diamond rivers.

If you think he calls you with a pair on the turn you can potentially bluff diamond rivers, but this move is lost if you check.

Also its unlikely you will get checkraised on the turn, you were not 4 bet preflop, and i would argue a strong hand wouldve checkraised the flop, so this would also make me more likely to bet the turn.

Re: Bet again?

In general, on this board I do not agree with checking the river for a free showdown. You certainly need to bet a river 9, 8, or diamond if checked to you at the very least, and you should probably target 6x or small pocket pairs with a diamond by betting the others.

I think betting this hand once on the turn is the worst plan for the later streets.

Edit: I didn't realize it was a 3bet pot, so 6x is out except for A6, and they are more likely to put you on AK and call down, but I still think you need to three barrel and put pairs lower than a J and AK to the test if you are betting the turn.

This makes sense. I feel like I don't look for enough bluff opportunities. This is why I posted the last two hands.

The tricky part of this hand is that I have the gutter along with overcards. It would suck to get CR'd. If I choose to check this turn, should I be calling blank rivers? Assuming again my reads are limited. If I bet this turn do I need to call and potentially call down UIP?

Misread OP, my eyes skipped to the part where it said folded to me.

I'm okay with turning this hand into a bluff like 25% of the time. 16 combos "feels like" we turn them into a profitable callstation, but it requires some calculation. They only hope to beat AK,AT, but if you always turn this into a bluff it's a mistake.

Alternatively, or additionally I'd consider pounding AJ here three streets as well on occasion to punish the PP.

Re: Bet again?

I'd check the turn. I'm likely to call non four flushing rivers but could find a fold vs more nitty opponents. If checked to on the river, I'm checking back unimproved and expect to win somewhat often. I'm betting any rivered non four flushing pair on the river and will call a raise with those hands.

If I had AdKx or AxKd I'm betting the turn, calling a raise, or checking back unimproved on the river. If raised on the turn, I'm calling and hoping to improve. I'll fold the river unimproved in that case but I think it's exploitive.
