You can't really count live hands 1:1 vs. online hands. It is so easy to get in a few (thousand) mindless button mashing hands online. Mindful practice is where it is at, imo. That said, you and Alan (and Mitch) have it right, it is so much easier to learn shorthanded play online. If you're in games where you can lose $500 in two hands, dropping that online as tuition is cheap... even if the site just steals the money at some point. Dragon is still running the Session Review monthly in the micros. The experience of doing the hand swaps is reason enough to play, by itself.
