From Saturday night:

random KRS1 song

Wu Tang: Da Mysteries of Chessboxin

Beastie Boys: Shake Ya Rump

----

Silence ran through the kitchen. "How do you top that?" he asked. "I don't know." I said. Brainstorming ensued. I took a sip of beer and that's where I found some inspiration:

"Drinkin Problem!" I said.

Then I was in the mood for something dirty, so I requested:

Rehab: Miss Jones

----

Also from Saturday night:

"I'm a sucker for love songs." he said.

"Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix, I replied. "Then "Could You Be Loved" by Bob Marley."

We never got to hear Bob Marley though because she put on the Jimi Hendrix Pandora station "for Bob" she said. I vaguely remember hearing "All Along the Watchtower," "Hey Joe," and "Voodo Chile" and some other lesser known gems that escape my memory at this time.

I can hear Jimi!!!!!!!

I started the morning with some feel good songs:

Gives You Hell by All American Rejects

Good Day by Nappy Roots

It's My Time by Fabolous

Then a "throwback thursday" post on facebook got me all sentimental, so I turned to my past for some inspiration:

Miss You by Biggie

Hook by Blues Traveler

Crossroads by Bone Thugs

Changes by Tupac

Now I'm all choked up. "I try to find my friends, but they're blowin in the wind."

Listening to sad songs is bad.
Listening to sad rap songs is just catastrophic.

Thanks dude. I'm feeling better today.

Burnin Down the House by the Villebillies is rap rock's swan song imo.

"from way back here you lookin like Beyonce! Rly dont curr bout your fiance!"

I miss the way my homemade sealed box with two 12" subs powered by the 400w 4 channel Kenwood amp with dual filters used to take the signal from my Pioneer 45wx4 deck and fill the streets with the melodies from my youth.

I started this morning with the baseline from "Let it Whip" by the Dazz Band in my head, so I fired up youtube and listened to my favorite old school funk song.

Then I requested "All Right Now" by Free, which may be one of my favorites, and youtube obliged.

Now I'm on a Rage Against the Machine trip. I started with "Renegades of Funk." I think I may listen to the entirety of their debut self titled album. No other album in history has the same effect on me and my emotions. I still remember the first time I heard it. I was in ninth grade and a friend taped a copy for me. I got out of school and went home. I popped in the tape and the rest is history.

I think this was the first time in the history of the universe that this exact combination of quantum numbers has occurred:

him: I think we need to rock out while we put away all these groceries.

me: my thoughts exactly.

him: what are you thinkin?

me: Weezer!

him: ****in right!

<high five ensues>

him: **** yeah *****!

First time in a while that I've been called "*****" to my face. Being a standard American mutt full of Portuguese, French Canadian, Irish, and Native American blood, I don't think it'll happen again anytime soon.

Then we listened to the blue album.

YOUUUUU TAKE YOUR CAR TO WORK! I'LL TAKE MY BOARD!

Almost enough to make me feel young again. Or really, really old, since that album is 20 years old now.

A+

For reasons unbeknownst to me, I woke up this morning with Heart singing "Barracuda" in my head, which is weird cus I haven't heard that song in months. The outro guitar riff in 7/8 time is particularly good.

Starting my day with "Stop" by Jane's Addiction and "Short Skirt Long Jacket" by Cake. The former may be my #1 favorite psych up song. The latter is just good old family fun.
