If they're swearing at me in the chatbox, then does that mean I might be doing it right?
05-01-2015 , 11:21 AM
Basically, the more insults in the chat box, the better you're playing. Unless you are playing terrible. It depends.
05-01-2015 , 11:26 AM
One guy said that he hopes my brain is eaten by zombies. lmao

Spoiler:

Anyone else get invited to play in the Intertops $5k freeroll? I'm guessing it's gonna be wicked soft, mostly cus I'll be playing ldo.
05-10-2015 , 09:34 AM
Confirmed soft field. The general strategy of most of my opponents was simple: TT+, AK = raise preflop and get it in; Anything else, see a cheap flop and play abc postflop.

I managed to cash by finishing 79th out of 906, which paid $12.50, which was a far cry from the $900+ first place prize.

The strategy they were using isn't all that bad really. A bit tight, but solid none the less.

Sorry dude but I totally disagree. Any strategy that doesn't adjust for position nor stack sizes should never ever be described as solid. It's really bad poker imo.

Didn't say they were good, but I'm not going to be making a ton of money from them. For me, they are more noise than anything else, especially in a freeroll.

Funny, I always thought "solid" was better than "good." Silly me.

Against these players that will only raise TT+ and AK, we can make tons of exploitive folds with hands that would be profitable against a more aggressive opponent. Money saved is money earned in this instance. We might not see the chips pile up against these opponents, but to say that we're not profiting from their mistake of playing too tight seems to me to be almost intentionally ignorant of the facts.

So smile as you fold to these player's preflop raises, because you've just exploited them.

Like the ICM considerations that make you play nitty in tournaments?
05-11-2015 , 10:46 AM
I'm not ignoring icm. I'm pointing out that a button raising range of TT+ and AK, while open liming down through 75s and 54s is just horrible and I'm shocked that anyone disagrees.
05-11-2015 , 10:56 AM
I don't think that anyone disagrees, I think it's more that those are by far not the worst/most profitable player's to play against in a tournament setting.
05-11-2015 , 11:58 AM
Because the guy who limps 74s and then calls your AIPF (with your range being TT+) seems much more profitable than the guy who limps 74s OTB and then folds. Plus, winding up Bob148 on a Monday morning seems good.
05-11-2015 , 12:11 PM
Lol

One guy even limped in with 7 big blinds behind from middle position and called when the big blind made it 8 big blinds total. The limper had 86s.
05-11-2015 , 12:45 PM
At least he called.

PHX/SD/LA/LV epic 2-week TR thread to start Friday. Hoping to make the 15 hour hop from Austin to Phoenix in one day. Poker rooms on my hit list include casino aztar (spelling?), oceans 11, maybe pechenga, commerce, hustlah, bicycle, and then the vegas rooms. Any place I'm missing that I should stop in? 2 nights phoenix, 1 night SD, 2 nights LA, 10 nights vegasssss. Also Game 5 blackhawks @ ducks next monday in LA (assuming the hawks stop losing).
05-17-2015 , 08:46 PM
casino az = casino arizona? in phoenix. aka talking stick resort
05-17-2015 , 09:01 PM

I never played the pre-beta version, but I'm having a blast with the 1.0 release. It also seems to be blowing the doors off of nearly every game review.
