There are obviously more reasons for wanting position on the fish than just the iso-raising
Amen.
Every time you enter the pot, you are laying odds to the player that is acting behind you. You are also recieving odds from all the players that act before you.
The most common situation, is that the player behind, is getting 7 to 5 odds.
Lets pretend for a second, that you open raise, and the player behind you coldcalls as a 3-2 underdog. His position, makes it so that effectively over time, in that situation, he wins 7X2 or 14 bets, and you win 5X3 or 15bets. Nice (unless you are paying 10% rake
). (by the way, did you just get a better picture of how floating works?)
On the other hand, he limps, and you raise behind him as a 3-2 card favorite with position. Now, you win 7X3 or 21 bets, and he wins 5X2 or 10 bets.
Do you want to be playing poker as a 21:10 money favorite, or a 15:14 favorite?
The question boils down to, you want to sit in the seat where you are going to have the best position most of the time. Now, these were generic Fish, TAGs, LAGs, etc. so everyone might be answering a different question, because we all have different flavors of what those terms mean, but in my mind, seat 2 is better, because, we will get to play with the fish whenever we both enter the pot, but when I enter the pot, (probably for a raise) I will eliminate the TAG, and LAG behind me more often, than I could eliminate the loose guy on my right.
