You're right, the guy didn't get desperate after calling preflop, he was desperate preflop. Just don't think he's raising his garbage there,especially down 3 racks, which is most likely what he has. The fact that there were only 3 players and fish in a 4/8 game will put the raiser on an A/K. Not that far fetched to think the guy is taking a stab with a weak holding. If guy had top pair I don't think he leads into preflop raiser, he'd be afriad of over-pair, and if he has better, think he lays low til turn.
