I know people usually suggest to buy-in for approx 20-30 big bets in limit. However my question is what is the maximum you can bring to 10/20 limit table. I am a complete rook when it comes to limit so I really have no clue. I play at Foxwoods so if anyone plays 10/20 limit at foxwoods that would be a great help too. Thanks

As much as (QE1+QE2)^10000

Or an infinite amount of money. There is no max in limit.

I would buy in for a rack or two. I'm a buy-in nit and buy in huge, 4 racks for a 4 chip/8 chip game and 2 racks for a 2 chip/4 chip game.

I play in that game once a week or so. Most of the players buy in for $200 to $500. I personally like to buy in for at least 2 racks so I have plenty of chips to play with. I don't think there is a maximum although I have never seen someone sit down with more than 4 racks in that game and I'm pretty sure they were waiting for $20/$40.

as much as you can fit? Ive seem the floor ask players with too-tall stacks (>100 chips) to take them down.

Real answer, there is no dollar limit. A well-known terrible player who was asking for stakes months ago recently a sat at 20/40 with ten 5k chips he acquired by screaming "MONKEY!" at just the right time.

At the lowest limits, one real concern is that you're viewed differently if you buy in for much more or much less than the average person. This might be good or bad depending on the image you want, but it's something to be aware of.

For example, at my local 3/6, 1 is on the high end of standard but 2 is definitely noticed. At 6/12, 1 is in the upper-middle of standard and 2 may be noticed but not always. At 15/30, 1 is in the middle of standard and 2 is on the high end of standard. From what I've seen at 30/60, 2 is in the middle of standard and 1 will probably get noticed on the low end.

I wouldn't want to stick out - on the high end or the low end - without a specific reason.

For the same reason, when moving down from 15/30 to 6/12, I tend to either cash out or color up all my $5 chips and rebuy $2 chips with cash or big chips so it doesn't look like I'm playing down. I also never withdraw from the player's bank at 6/12 because nobody else ever does it (at 15/30 it's pretty standard though).

estornudo how is the 10/20 limit game down there. Is it mostly the locals or do you get many fishy vacationers? Also do they use the $10 chips at the table or just $5's?

$10/$20 uses just $5 red chips except for rake. The lineup of the game varies greatly depending on what time you go. As a general rule, on weekdays during the morning/afternoon there are a lot of local regulars and on weekends and nights there are more fishy vacationers and recreational players. Also, the nights later in the week tend to have more action, i.e. Friday night is much better than Monday night.

That being said, I don't think more than a couple (if any) of the regulars win in that game, so if the only time you can visit is during the day, don't let that be a deterrent.

Also check the Foxwoods tournament schedule. Any time there's a bigger than average tournament going on there will be much juicier games.
