At the lowest limits, one real concern is that you're viewed differently if you buy in for much more or much less than the average person. This might be good or bad depending on the image you want, but it's something to be aware of.
For example, at my local 3/6, 1 is on the high end of standard but 2 is definitely noticed. At 6/12, 1 is in the upper-middle of standard and 2 may be noticed but not always. At 15/30, 1 is in the middle of standard and 2 is on the high end of standard. From what I've seen at 30/60, 2 is in the middle of standard and 1 will probably get noticed on the low end.
I wouldn't want to stick out - on the high end or the low end - without a specific reason.
For the same reason, when moving down from 15/30 to 6/12, I tend to either cash out or color up all my $5 chips and rebuy $2 chips with cash or big chips so it doesn't look like I'm playing down. I also never withdraw from the player's bank at 6/12 because nobody else ever does it (at 15/30 it's pretty standard though).
