Sorry guys as a live player I do not have the fancy software to post my hand so will have to be in long hand by me

Playing in my local casino 2€nl TH, short handed with only 5 at my table, 2 regs including myself and 3 tourist (I live in a resort town on the Costa Del Sol). Two of the strangers are tight and passive, the 3rd guy Mr Splashy very loose and involved in way to many pots. He had not long reloaded after going bust to the other reg in a set over set situation.

I am in the BB with about 280€ and look down at AdKs, UTG folds, Mr Splashy open limps so B call and SB too. I squeeze bet to 24€ being out of position with AK which TBH I hate! Mr Splashy calls in a instant, the rest fold.

Flop KdKcAc
I check Mr Splashy bets 1/5 pot I call
Turn Tc Mr Splashy bets 1/3 pot I call hoping he made a flush
River Jc Now I worry as Mr Splashy looks like he hit the Lotto jackpot and after checking his cards with shaking hands jams the pot.

I will be honest after some thought I did fold putting him on a RF, a very hard fold indeed. After the table broke up I spoke with the other reg about the hand and he saw the sames tells as myself but felt I should never have folded the hand with the top boat.

What are your thoughts please?

Great question
Now just need to repost it at the right place, which would be called NL holdem

Folding that river is bad.

Yes, you could be beat.

Yes, he gave off a tell saying he is strong. But maybe that to him that just means he has a straight... or a flush... or KJ.

You only need to win the hand around third of the time to break even. I'd expect to win significantly more than that.

Because he was supposed to. Villian is a bad loose aggressive player who is prob on tilt. give him a chance to hang himself or hit something.

IME these player types are just as likely to spaz against a small bet as they are against a check. So we might as well bet small.

Or get you raised by a hand that's drawing dead. We don't win a rainmaker pot by checking, and it's not like we have the deck crushed to the point where he can't even continue. If he has 7 high, he's probably not putting a lot of money in the pot no matter what we do, even as a bad LAG. Don't play backwards, just bet like 25 to set up 102 in the middle / 229 in stacks. 60 on turn, shove river, easy game.

if he lost to QcTc the deck is fouled

OP you got 0/3 post flop streets right. pre might have been right but my spidey sense tells me your sizing is too big and you should raise to 12ish.

Ah shoot, didn't even notice the Tc was on board.

It's still a call. But it's one of those things where we really should never have been in this position because we should've bet-bet-jammed.

My intention was to drop the hammer on the river however after playing live poker for over 25 years I knew the guy was strong, when alarm bells ring in your head I have learnt not to ignore them. I would rather lose a small pot than a monster pot, I think on-line we are not getting away from this but with live we have an extra tool.... tells!

Many reasons:
1 did not want to lose my customer
2 If I bet every time I hit the flop I become predictable just the same as if I continuation bet every time I miss.
3 This guy is a loose as an old whores fanny let him build the pot
4 He was on tilt and felt sure he would jam at some point so why scare him

Just as a foot note to this post, today I received a message from the other reg at the table. He told me the next night Splashy was playing again, alas I was out with family so no poker, he was bragging at the table that he hit a RF. So maybe my fold was good but do we always believe table talk lol .... As poker players never lie!

You are thinking about this in the wrong way. Your fold is bad even if he had the royal....
