To stab or not to stab? Pre is a no-brainer 3-handed, flop and turn seemed straightforward, I had odds to chase my draws. My only real question is about the river. Will they fold to that scary-looking river card at least 1 time in 8? Seems an easy yes but thought I'd ask anyway.

Winning Poker Network (Yatahay) - $0.05/$0.10 (6 max) - Holdem - 3 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

SB: 37.7 BB (VPIP: 58.33, PFR: 41.67, 3Bet Preflop: 50.00, Hands: 13)
BB: 63.3 BB (VPIP: 20.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 10)
Hero (BTN): 23.7 BB

SB posts SB 0.2 BB, BB posts BB 0.5 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 0.7 BB) Hero has 6 A

Hero raises to 1 BB, SB raises to 1.5 BB, BB calls 1 BB, Hero calls 0.5 BB

Flop: (4.5 BB, 3 players) 9 5 8
SB bets 0.5 BB, BB calls 0.5 BB, Hero calls 0.5 BB

Turn: (6 BB, 3 players) T
SB bets 1 BB, fold, Hero calls 1 BB

River: (8 BB, 2 players) J
SB checks, Hero ???

Maybe you should start by assigning a 3-betting range and work your way through the turn bet. (Try a broader 3-betting range and a narrower 3-betting range.)

I'm not as confident that this is a straight-forward bet. It's hard to know what SB is thinking/doing here, but on a board like this it seems that he would have a fairly broad check-call range. (But it's hard to think of a worse hand you'd have here that got this far, so if there's a bluffing hand it's probably something like this one.)

The only way to find out if he calls too often is to bet.

I'd raise the flop.

I didn't even think of the free card play - thanks for reminding me to always be looking for that when I have position.

Given the size of the pot, I'm guaranteed to be calling a turn bet almost no matter what falls on the turn, so why not go for a free card?

We have lots of options depending on the turn card too. We don't always have to take the freebie. If they both call, I wouldn't bet the turn without a pair of Aces or a straight. If just one calls, my action is dependent on the turn card. 2d? I'm betting 100%. 5o? I'm betting almost 100%. To? I'm checking 100%.

If you're gonna raise the flop with this hand, you gotta raise the flop with strong hands or else your plan won't work long term; you'll be 3 bet to death on the flop.

If someone 3 bets the flop, I'm calling and folding the river without a pair of Aces or better.

BigBadBabar successfully broke me of my habit of looking for reasons NOT to bloat the pot when I have a big hand years ago. Especially at 10-cent poker when the pot is already 9 small bets on the flop - nobody's folding anything so range balancing is a non-issue. I'd raise the flop with a set, a straight, two pair or an overpair.

Not playing 5cent 10 cent limit would be a good start. .25 .50 is the lowest limit where there is an element of poker strategy, I have no experience on ACR but every site I have played 10 cent limit seems to be where the drunk guys with 6 dollars and the bots meet... neither fold much of anything. About 15 years ago I used to do freerolls on Full Tilt and win about 10 bucks quite often but I can't remember their lowest limit game. I enjoyed their horse and razz freerolls and plo i think
Prob cashed more horse freerolls on there than anyone
They started 530pm right when work was slowing down but I didnt get off til 9pm so I prob played 24 a month for years. Those were the days.

i dont think 7 and A are clean outs on the turn actually... and he bets in two guys.
