Re: 2017 ustakes NC, where the steaks are wafer thin (Low Content Thread)

I want to ask about the hand that crippled Hesp but don't dare in the NVG thread bec I'm afraid.

I would've folded pre bec 1. I'm chip leader but still have to get lucky to win 2. There are 5 players being nits who are just trying to get to the next pay level and I can take them on 3. I should be looking to at least lock up 3rd place money 4. why tangle w/ the one guy who can cripple me? Seems like I can win a small pot or have happen to me what happened to him.

Am I way off?

I think folding at any point would be ridiculous. Maybe could have played the turn differently and lost less.

He is on top of the world and feels like he is untouchable. Of course he isn't folding, he is on super happy tilt.

Howard, I missed the hand. Cliffs?

But generally I agree w/you. I remember a Daily Deepstack last year (takes 8 hours to make the money) and had built a pretty good stack. I kept telling myself not to screw it up. I got moved to a weird table. A guy was Table Captain, apparently a dealer, and was holding court. Nobody else at the table had hardly any chips, apparently taken by TC. Nobody but me, that is. He had me covered by about 20%, and I was very careful not to tangle with him in big pots. Luckily for me he didn't share my philosophy and I stacked him within 90 minutes, mostly with 2 big hands where I had the nuts and second nuts.

Blum raises utg with AA, hesp defends bb with ATs.

Flop A57. Ch/ch. turn T. Help checks, Blum bets 3, hesp to 7, Blum to 17, and hesp gets a running start to jam for 80ish total

The hand was scripted so well too. He was doubly crushed because he alsolearned he wasn't much of an actor either. I bet a million big blinds that a transcript of his train of thought reads like a god damn Rosetta Stone of fish logic. With the outfit it was like watching someone you'd have thought Caro hired to be the clown in his vhs lessons

I hope he wrecks them all

Ouch, that's pretty bad. He's crushed by pocket 5's even. This is the same guy that kept calling instead of raising when he had monsters.

I'll be at the new room outside of D.C. Apparently NOT playing LHE over the next week. If anyone is local, PM me as I have a few questions.

Re: 2017 ustakes NC, where the steaks are wafer thin (Low Content Thread)

It does remind me of one of the hands I had in the Daily Deepstack with the Table Captain guy. He slowplayed 2 pair on a board with QT rainbow to trap me (I had KJ of course) checking the flop and making a very small bet on the turn. An A hit the river, he threw in a handful of chips, I made a pretty good sized raise with the nuts and he thought for about 3 picoseconds before throwing in a call.

All the threads should be merged into the midstakes forum. If you think something is missing, we can work with BBB or some mod of the old forum.

Re: 2017 ustakes NC, where the steaks are wafer thin (Low Content Thread)

I saw more people call the river with the nuts today than I ever have in my short time playing. Easily the nittiest 4/8 table I've played at thus far.

My favorites:

Heads up on the river, player makes broadway on an unpaired board and just calls when a player raises him.

My last hand: I open KQ UTG, two callers, flop K48, bet, call, fold. Turn 5, bet, call. River 8, bet, call. Villain asks if I filled up and I'm halfway to the window before my cards hit the muck.

No point in raising, no one would have called anyway.
