I thought the Arizona experience was mainly getting as drunk as you can so you forget you're in Arizona.

You don't even need to do that; just watch this 16 second clip, it will tell you all you need to know.

Hard to predict what our financial status will look like in 2022 but we might keep our house in Tacoma for summers.

Actually, we are trying to do at least one new MLB stadium a year so maybe next year we'll target Chase Field.

It was stressful having my second favorite poster gone w/o explanation.

Well I don't know who that refers to but at least your favorite poster is back until they return

Another strange situation that came up this weekend. An inexperienced female dealer was in the box who I'm not sure if I've had dealt to me before, but was clearly new because she didn't know how much to ask the SB to put into the pot as a blind on the first or second hand of her down in a 20/40 game.

I raise in late position with 55 and maybe get called behind me and the BB (who is in the 1 seat) says he is calling dark and shows his cards to the dealer in a way he can't see them. The flop comes JTx and he asks the dealer if he should bet or check and she actually responds and says bet so he does. I fold and he ends up winning the pot and doesn't show and claims he had AK after looking which must be a lie.

I am flabbergasted that she actually responded to the question since one player/person to a hand etc, but didn't want to make a big deal about it.

First off, it would kill the mood of a quasi fun table if I made a scene about it (didn't happen again that down). Also, this action he took must be to my benefit to have someone else recommending actions on a hand that is clearly inexperienced, but it just felt wrong all around.

Thoughts?

LOL... definitely wrong.

I wouldn't complain myself. But that behavior does need to be corrected, so maybe pull her aside after her down and find a polite, friendly way to explain she can't tell players what action to take.

As you mentioned, if she doesn't know the blind structure, it's probably safe to assume she doesn't know much about rules and etiquette.

optah

Sucks but what can you do? Gotta teach that dealer.
03-29-2017 , 02:57 PM
I wouldn't make a big stink over it, but I would let her know that doing that is a huge no-no.
03-29-2017 , 03:02 PM
I would mention it to her away from the table.
03-29-2017 , 05:40 PM
She's much better off if you mention it politely than finding out the rule after someone loses a big pot and blames her for it.
03-29-2017 , 05:42 PM
Bah, guess I will have to seek her out this weekend and she will look at me crazy when I mention it to her.

Convo w/ an experienced dealer from years ago.

Me, UTG: 'Should I straddle?'
Dealer: 'Yes.'

So I straddle, get dealt KK and win a huge pot. Some players complained to the dealer who said 'I didn't think he'd do it.'

He got $10.

Someone bets, and an *******, flashing cards to dealer, says: "What would you do?"

Dealer: "I'd fold."

******* calls, wins, laughs, and then stiffs the dealer.

I throw out a tip.

******* berates me, saying he was going to tip her, just hadn't gotten around to it yet, blah blah blah.

Id encourage players to get all the free advise form dealers they want during a hand. It may not always be optimal

Here's a fun one from a few months ago. Playing 75-150 2-7 and I open 237 on the cutoff and sb calls. We each take 2 and Button says I'll sweat this one So I give him my 2 new cards. He squeezes them and sb checks, I ask him what to do and he says bet.... sb Check raises and he slides me my cards and I see AA...lol $150 down the drain
