Re: Steps required to use FPHG

How do I set up pokertracker to import these files automatically? I read something about naming a file empire.exe, but didn't quite understand.
1. Make a folder for mining somewhere.
2. Copy an execuatble into this folder and rename it EmpirePoker.exe (or another skin you don't use).
3. Copy FreePHG.exe into this folder also.
4. Open up some tables (see below).
5. Start running FreePHG.exe from your mining folder and you should start to see .hhf files appearing for the tables you are watching.
6. When you want to import these hands, point PT at this folder by pointing it at the EmpirePoker.exe (it will then think this folder is the empire folder and [auto-]import from their).

I got everything working, but it isnt importing the hands. I Dont understand #2 - copy an exe file into the folder....could someone explain that and i should be all set.....thanks

To be able to import the .hhf files you need to point poker tracker at what it thinks is a Party Skin dirrectory.

So you can either install EmpirePoker and then run FPHG from the main empire folder where EmpirePoker.exe is located (you don't run empire, just run FPHG from within that folder and point PokerTracker to import observed hand histories from the empire folder as notmal)

OR

You can copy an executable (".exe") file into another folder where you are running FPHG, rename the execuatble "EmpirePoker.exe", and setup PokerTracker to import from this 'fake' empire poker folder.

Re: Steps required to use FPHG

Is there any reason to not use FHG while you are playing. Will Pokertracker recognize that the .hhf are duplicate and not load them twice. The reason I bring this up is that my records are showing more hands than they should. Anyone run into this?

Instead of "copying" an executable into the folder, just create a .txt file using notepad. Save that into the folder. Rename it to EmpirePoker.exe and you're set.

Yes this works fine too, but some people had problems with this method if they hadn't setup windows to display extensions of known file types (they are renaming it ".exe.txt" and not realizing I think).

There shouldn't be a problem with this, as the .hhf are stored in just the same way as they always were in memory. I think PT should detect that their are duplicate hand #'s and ignore them? (I not sure on this though, maybe somebody else can clarify this).

As for running while playing, the most likely problem will be speed related (FPHG constantly polls memory, so is pretty slow and CPU intensive), and this is likely to cause hands to be missed occasionally (under high system strain).

Re: FPHG v0.01 available

Just got send this in an email, but posted here as may be of general interest:

Quote:
FPHG : I'm only playing NL and when someone is all in somehow the hand isn't written correctly, it seems the last line is missing. The first side pot shows up in the hand history but not the main pot. Maybe your program stops writting the hand history after it gets a "wins" line. Example :

================== Example
.
.
.
Player1 shows [ Ac, Ks ] two pairs, aces and kings.
Player2 doesn't show [ Js, Ah ] a pair of aces.
Player1 wins $0.40 from side pot #1 with two pairs, aces and kings.

===================== End of example
(NOTE: Changed the text to hide identities).

It seems this might be causing more problems for NL players than I predicted (I am a limit player, so apologize for this!). I will look into this, and pretty sure I can find a way to match an alternate termination expression which doesn't miss side pots for v0.03.

As PT imports any hand, it checks to see if the hand# is already imported. Therefore you don't need to worry about double importing.

I've been running FPHG while playing and I haven't seen any problems with duplicates whatsoever.

thanks again for your help, but its still not importing into PT. The folder adds table names when i run it, so i think it appeats to be working. But still no imports into PT. It wont allow me to add the folder to PT so i put the folder in with the old Empire folder i used to use but its still not working. Any idea why i am unable to add that folder to PT or why its not working?
thanks
Sorry

Re: Steps required to use FPHG

I am really not the best person to ask, as I don't use PT anymore.

Perhaps somebody who uses PT can write the steps more clearly than I did (as I am doing this from memory, and most likely I missing something...).

Re: Steps required to use FPHG

One thing that might help if you having problems with .hhf importing, is to try to import as .txt files. I explained how to get FPHG to export as .txt if you follow this sub-thread in the iWitness v2 thread.

Sorry I can't be more help on how to get the .hhf working, but hopefully a PT user who can explain how they doing it will post here soon.

Re: Steps required to use FPHG

Not sure if this helps but I'll throw it out there:

The HHF files are for observed hands, so you need to configure your "observed hands" settings, rather than your "regular" settings for importing hand histories, to import the HHF files from the FreePHG folder.

I was making this mistake.

Yes, I tried to keep it the same as it was before because observed hands can be imported without saving the actual hand history text (uses less space and slightly faster impost I think), and this way you just get the data-mined stats (which is what most people want the observed hands for anyway).

Re: Steps required to use FPHG

How come I can't get this to work? I opened some tables on Party, ran the FreePHG executable, but it's not creating any .hhf files in the directory.
