Our announcer had a tough time saying Postgres, so I let him spell it out. I think we had 12 takes before I tossed in the towel on that one ;-)

Here is Wayne Lively, our announcer! You may know of him as Cactus Jack on 2+2, he is also the host of the Eight Paths to Enlightenment.

Wayne is an old friend, I met him after he first moved to Las Vegas back when he didn't know anybody out here. Over the years I have introduced him to many friends of mine in the business who were looking for an announcer, as such he was picked up by Professional Poker (2+2 Bookstore, Tommy Angelo for his 8 Paths series, and others. He really has an amazing voice.

Re: Coming Soon: PokerTracker 4

Just played some on microgaming and another feature came up. microgaming has those anonymous tables where the name of the player is only shown as player 1, player 2, and so on. it also shows that name in the DB. so every time I get on one of those tables it immediately shows all the stats that every player 1 so far played....so my point is...since tracker software might not be able to differentiate (which is understandable) please include a feature where we can tell PT3 or in this case PT4 to not show a HUD for a specific table....like when you click on the PT icon if you play. there should be an option..something like "deactivate HUD for this table".

I'm certain that microgaming players are only a very small part of your customers but this feature should not be hard to include (although I have not clue).

There will be more HUD options, and I'll make sure the devs are aware of this request.

Re: Coming Soon: PokerTracker 4

Wow the vid is amazing!! I am so happy! I am a mac user and didn't know that pokertracker 3 was available on Mac since a couple of months and therefor really hated HEM for not delivering on mac systems. (So I played without HUD software for years) I am so happy with PT3 but now I've seen some new features in PT4 and there is prolly even more to come I am really exited. Go after them lazy HEM guys!!

Go PT team!!

Re: Coming Soon: PokerTracker 4

I have no tim to read the whole thread so sorry if I repeat something already said:

First: PT3 >>>>> HEM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything else
for customizability and other obv. reasons ... so I'm looking forward for PT4!!! I hope you guys ton't change your approach and keep PT as flexible as possible...

There is still room to improve tough

1. 1600 columns limitation from PSQL biggest single problem which PT4 will not overcome. So it's CRUCIAL you do some tricks to help us around this limitation, i.e.: cutsomizable click buttons for the HUD Layout für every position (and customizable groups of positions (blinds/noblinds)), ante/noante, oop/iap, customizable stacksize- and SPR-clickbuttons and so on ...

2. 900 or so stat-limitation in the HUD should be urgently overcome

3. Taking into account effective stacksizes!

4. 4betting/5betting/6betting

6. Easier HUD-layout (formats for a whole group etc...)

7. Advanced notetaking features

8. Performance is still an issue, when your DB get's bigger... So hopefully PT4 improves there.

thanx in advance

Re: Coming Soon: PokerTracker 4

We agree there's room to improve and we're going to keep working to do it.

Regarding (1) and (2), we are working to improve HUD flexibility and we hope that the improved flexibility plus the power of the automated notes function and improved filtering will drastically reduce the number of custom stats that anybody needs.

I'll let Steven handle the rest.

I'd also just like to say that I look forward to having you, personally, testing the PT4 beta (once it's released) to the absolute extreme. Because I know if you're happy with the power toys, then anybody else should be too.

Re: Coming Soon: PokerTracker 4

Yeah...about colourcoding...I would like to assign colours/icons by myself and not by definition (which I know I can establish by myself). So why not give us a notebox like on fulltilt with a pull-down-menu (hope thats the right word cause I'm not a native speaker) so we can chose what icon/colour we want assign to villain.

Also the notetaking feature needs a lot of work but I read that you are working on that already.

Thx

I ofc will be happy to give something back to the awesome PT3 support team, for sure (please just pm me the beta-release date as early as possible, as I'm not all the time following the latest developements)

3 (in some, but not all areas), 4, 6 & 7: All of these issues were addressed in PT4, some of this will be visible in the next Feature Preview video.

8: Of course we cannot perform miracles but we are still tuning PT4 to get the best possible performance on the widest range of computer scenarios. One of the big changes we made to importing is the performance of maintenance on the fly while you are importing live hands, it's a tremendous time saver and it assures that you do not have to stop to perform maintenance to maintain the integrity of your database - in our vision if it interferes with playing, then we aren't doing it right. We also changed how the HUD Popups are populated to accommodate the widest selection of users whose computer processors, memory, and hard drive speeds come from all walks of life, the goal is to make the use of PT4 feel as seamless as possible. More details on the topic of performance will be available as we near the finished release, I know I am being a little vague in this answer but it is intentional - we cannot share everything yet, one step at a time ;-)

Re: Coming Soon: PokerTracker 4

First. I was unaware you were using a 3rd party for the graphing functions. I have asked many questions about graphs over the past couple of years and had this tit-bit of knowledge been available earlier I probably would have shut up long ago. One of the feature requests that has been around since Jesus was in grade school is a function to combine all cash/tourney/HE/OH winnings/losses into a single BR graph. I could not tell from the video if this is possible in PT4 as the commentary does not start are the highest functionality level.

Comment?

Second. Making changes to PT elements 'on the fly' (like suddenly discovering 6_bet_on_thursdays is a great stat and you need it in your HUD) is like pulling teeth. My computer is not bleeding edge, but it ain't bad and changing parts of a HUD while still playing just about locks my system. After pressing the 'OK' button in the HUD profiler PT3 pretty much becomes comatose for 30-40 seconds. Same deal when starting 'auto import'... same deal when changing filters. All of these things are pretty well instantaneous in HEM (spew)... in fact I cannot find one activity in HEM that grinds the program to a halt. I find many in PT.

Comment?

+1

if current filter "give me" more than 30K hands, when i switch from Sessions tab to General tab it took several MINUTES to refresh and finish display the data in General tab... ... when i refresh and switch to Positions or Hands tab it took even more

i have XP SP2, Pentium4 3Ghz, 1Gb RAM, WD 7200rpm
i know it is old, but is my system that bad for PT3/PT4?

Your computer is the minimum requirements to run PT3 which was decided 3 years ago. Minimum requirements means that it will run and be functional but you cannot expect it to be speedy.

With PT4, I would suggest at LEAST using the recommended PT3 requirements (listed below the min. requirements on the page linked above) as your baseline.

Best regards,

Derek

does this mean those would be the official min. requirements for PT4 or is it only a suggestion?

could PT3 be used even after PT4 will be available? for how long?

you said that you're "tuning PT4 to get the best possible performance on the widest range of computer scenarios" and try to "create software for the widest possible set of hardware" BUT i do not think that such a nice piece of software like PT4 can live without minimum/recommended hardware requirements significantly higher than PT3.

Re: Coming Soon: PokerTracker 4

Regarding PT3 usability after PT4 is available: We plan to continue supporting PT3 for some time. The exact length of time has not yet been set, but it will not be short.

For comparison, after PT3 was released commercially, PT2 was supported for 3 more years.

Higher, but not significantly higher. Most modern computers purchased within the past 3-4 years should do provided there is enough disk space and memory available. As APerfect10 pointed out PT3's minimum requirements were created 3 years ago at a time when players were just moving over from PT2, had smaller databases, the computing requirements from a basic OS install had not yet changed, and even the minimum requirements to play on graphically rich sites such as Stars had not yet evolved. We will be moving the minimum system requirements bar higher for PT4, but we will continue to design for the average user rather than the high end i7 8 Gig SSD type of user. To keep things in perspective, here is the minimum requirements for Windows 7 as recommended by Microsoft, compare this to our minimum requirements for PT3 - computing has come a long way in the past 5 years:

Quote:
If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
note - this is not PT4's system requirements, but it is good to see the comparison nonetheless

I can't give you a definite answer about this, I'm afraid, but the devs are aware of your request.

Performance improvements for this kind of thing is something I've been pushing for internally as well, and again the development team are aware of the issues and I'm told they will be addressed.
I'm sorry I can't give you anything more definite just now, but the development team are very aware of your posts and we do appreciate all your suggestions and requests.

The public Beta is scheduled for Q3 this year, with commercial release in Q4.
None of the poker sites allow us to take payments using transfers, so that will not be possible. If you contact us via the PokerTracker website when the time comes we will be able to arrange some way for you to purchase, though.

Q3 would that mean around 2.5months from now?
