Jesus Christ...
It's almost impossible to get accurate VPIP or PFR numbers without tracking, and for people who have played a million hands with a HUD they are important.

+1, and avatars while you're at it. And I don't suppose this will be capable of storing data on players?

Player names and storing players will be part of the same update. I was thinking about avatars... would you rather cartoon type or real photo type? Full tilt or Stars type?

Cool. I'd like photos, but I suppose some sort of icons could be useful too.

I'm not sure what you mean by FT or PS type - if you mean like some sort of border or w/e, I dont rly care, w/e works.

Full tilt has cartoon avatars, pokerstars has photographs chosen by the players. I could create some cartoon avatars or I could allow the user of the app to select photos from their library to use as an avatar.

That gets a little sketchy tho. idk if people would take too kindly to their pic showing up in your tracking application.

so at the end of the development for this project everyone will be sitting around a poker table with a moble phone playing against each other with no dealers cards or chips because you made it in the program.

Lol. And eventually everyone will have a video feed of themselves for online poker too right.

omg donks, learn the game instead.

90% of the ppl loving this idea would be moderate losing players @ nl10, but cos u got stats u can make 0.01 bb/100 @ nl100.

f...ing robots, go play wow.

WTF!!!!!!

I had an idea for this exact thing a few weeks ago, very happy to see somebodies done it! It would just be fun to see the #'s of how the typical live 1/2 game plays out even just for 100 hands or so.. my only thoughts are to keep it as simple as possible to use, and having a tiny controller type thing in your pocket or under your coat would be much better than having the guys next to you looking over your shoulder to see why you keep pressing buttons on your iphone.

1/2 live games' stats are absolutely hilarious. I would love it you guys would post some screen shots. Often you get an entire table playing over half their hands and a few playing 80%+

I wouldn't worry about people looking over your shoulder. It's a few clicks and people generally won't look at what you are doing; it's rude to look at another guy's phone and they will probably assume you are texting.

Even when I make it very obvious what I am doing by having the phone face up on the table in front of me so that it is almost impossible to not see what I am doing, dealers and players and floor people don't say anything or seem to notice. The only players that say something are people who are familiar with HUDs; to everyone else the numbers are nonsense.

This is a cool idea, when do you think the Android version will be ready?

About a month for the Android version.

Love the idea. Like others, I thought it was a joke when i opened the thread (even after I checked out your website, I thought it might all be a level but kudos for a great outside the box idea.)

1) Here's an idea I think should be pretty easy to implement, but potentially an important one...I love the clean interface, BUT I also agree that there is some merit to not making it obvious that you're using the app. I don't see anything wrong with it, but I can tell you that the AC regulars I've played with would go absolutely apesht about this. They are miserable, miserable old nits who look for any and every excuse to call the floor. Anyone who has played Borgata 5/10+ knows what I'm talking about. Just the saddest excuse for human beings you've ever seen. Anyway, the moment they caught a whiff of this app they'd be down your throats. I actually think you should have an alternate skin that made it HARDER for players beside or behind you to see what you were doing...like one that didn't have column titles or the numbers neatly aligned against a white background.

2) I have absolutely no problem with this app...and jeezus, ppl who think it could be banned: would you also object to someone sitting there with a notepad and writing down that info?? The only part of the process that this app is automating is ONE simple division operation.

***HOWEVER, I would be very concerned that this could run afoul of gaming laws. I just looked up Nevada's gaming statutes, and copy a section here:

NRS 465.075 Use of device for calculating probabilities.

It is unlawful for any person at a licensed gaming establishment to use, or possess with the intent to use, any device to assist:

1. In projecting the outcome of the game;
2. In keeping track of the cards played;
3. In analyzing the probability of the occurrence of an event relating to the game; or
4. In analyzing the strategy for playing or betting to be used in the game,

except as permitted by the commission.

Ugh. I mean: I hate to be Debbie Downer, but you'd be hard pressed to argue that this app does NOT fit the above definition of a prohibited device. My personal opinion as to whether there's anything wrong with it: absolutely not (for the reasons stated above). BUT I worry that you don't only risk drawing the ire of your fellow players (and a request from the floor to stop using it), but more worrisomely, that some old nit with a fire in his arse or an uppity floorman is going to make serious trouble for you with the casino and/or gaming authorities.

This is quite possibly the stupidest idea ever. Just pay attention live. Way to try and kill the games. In addition, as posted above, it is illegal.
JUST STOP

The app is a simple record keeping program. It does not analyze anything.

Listen, I'm on your side. I like your idea.
But I'm also relatively certain -- and have become more so since writing my post -- that it could be reasonably held to run afoul of certain gaming laws.

This isn't complicated: just read the NV law in blue font. Sure, you could weasel your way to an interpretation where your program is kosher. But it similarly doesn't take too much of a mental stretch to come up with rationale why it isn't. Get a reasonable floorman and he may just ask you to stop using it. Get a jerk and then you're talking about for more serious headaches. Moral of the story: I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be pulling this out in a casino. The rest of you are obviously free to make your own decisions.
