There would be a little bit of improvement in database performance as our installer uses SQL 8.4.1.1 where theirs installs version 8.3.8 I believe. Our installer also disables the postgresql logging which can often waste large amounts of your hard drive with useless log files. Those log files waste space and slow down your database.

If you do decide to uninstall you should make sure you backup the \Poker Tracker 3\Processed folder where it stores all your original hands that were auto imported. You may also want to export the database to be sure you have all of those hands archived from your PT3 DB. If you play a site like stars/ftp you can email their support and ask for all your old hand histories and tourney histories/results, so it is a bit less important if you save the originals as they can be replaced.

When you uninstall postgresql from the windows control panel you will receive a message stating that the postgres user account and \data folder have not been removed. Our installer does not require you to manually remove the postgres user from the command window any longer so you do not need to worry about that portion of the message. If you do not want to save your PT3 database you should manually delete the \Postgresql\8.3 folder that is left after uninstalling and then empty your recycle bin. The \data folder is left behind in case you wanted to try moving or reinstalling your existing poker tracker database, but it doesn't sound like that is a concern for you.

Re: Holdem Manager: 1.11.02 Official Release (15 day trial) (Omaha & Table Scanner/Tracker)

HM and PT3 import the hand histories and parse the information into a PostgreSQL database. This is where all of the work behind the scenes is done when you are filtering and reviewing, etc. You still want to keep those original hand histories and any new hand histories.

When you play poker and use the auto-import feature the original hands are moved to an archive folder for performance and backup/archive reasons. Hands that you manually Import From Folder do not get moved to the archive. The original hands are more important than the actual database. Databases can sometimes become corrupt or damaged for no apparent reason, or for reasons like power outages, pc crashes, brown outs, etc. If the DB is ever damaged you make a new DB (or reinstall postgresql to update) and import the original files again.

As I said, you can probably connect to your existing postgresql database but HM can not use the PT3 database. you need to import all of your hand histories to HM manually to recreate the PT3 DB in a form that HM can understand.

You can also export them from each PC and import to the other. We dont have a proper filtered export feature yet but there is a workaround as long as you arent exporting massive numbers of hands.

hands tab > [x] all > right-click > export all hands to hard drive.

If you play tourneys you may also need to export your tourney results from the dataview tab to import to the other PC.
Thank you fozzy, now once they hands are imported will they be put in the other pcs HMArchieve so I can delete them from the folder I imported them from? ALso, If I go the route of copying the month HMArchive folders directly, will the hands just be auto imported and nothing else is needed? Thanks again

Yes, as long as you are meticulous and are sure you dont fail to copy some hands over you should be fine.

We suggest you do larger, bulk imports using the Import From Folder or Import From Files method. Those 2 are designed for manual imports and should import faster for larger samples. The auto-import method does a few things that the manual methods do not for the HUD and other things, so the imports are typically slower, but it does it every 5 seconds so there is usually not a large number of hands to import.

Hello. Can you please tell me how to EV graphs are calculated in HM for sngs? what do they take into account? Do they only perform a calculation when you or your opponent are all in? How do they take into account the nonlinear pay structure? If on the bubble antother short stack gets in in but sucks out and as a result you bubble, does it take that into account as well?
thanks

If you are playing both 6 max and full ring tables simultaneously, is it possible to have the HM Hud show just 6max stats on 6max tables and just full ring stats on fr tables?

Licence problem:

I know we can use HEM on 2 computers but my MBP with boot camp is using up both licences because it thinks my Windows 7 on boot camp is different from Windows 7 on VMWare Fusion.

Doesn't seem fair that both my uses are used up by one physical machine

Watch this video - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/120/EV+Explained

**TOURNY EV**

*Single Table Tournaments only (includes: Double or Nothings, Headsup, etc.... excludes: single table satellites!)
*cEV Diff (chip EV difference)....: this works exactly the same as the $EV Won for cashgames.
*$EV Diff (dollar EV difference)
*$Won + SUM $EV Diff = $EV Won
*The same "why EV per street is bad" applies for tourneys too.

-->Confusion: $EV Won vs $USD EV vs EV $ Diff vs $EV Diff vs cEV Diff vs $Won vs Luck Adjusted Winnings vs All-in EV (do we need eight different terms for three different things?)

*In addition: the $EV Won can be confusing when it's negative and a larger number than the actual buyin, or positive and a larger number than the actual first price money.
You have some extreme situations (often in Double or Nothing and in SUPER TURBO SNGs)

Extreme examples:
$169 buyin SUPER TURBO, $Won = $720 (1th place)---> $EV Won = -$196 (a negative value, that is higher than the actual buyin)
$5.20 buyin DoN, $Won = $10---> $EV Won = $11.35 (more than you can actually win)

So EV becomes quite a meaningless number if you focus on one game (or in the "case King hits the river" AA vs KK example on that one hand)
The more you play, the more accurate it gives a representation of your overall "luck".

And it doesn't take into account coolers. There was a program called set-o-meter (worked with PT2) where you could see how often you'd hit a set.
EV doesn't take into account how often (and how much) you win/lose with an overpair against a set (and vice versa).

Sorry, no it is not an option. The poker sites do not allow us to do this.

I am not very familiar with mac's personally. Please send your Reg.log file from the C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Logs folder, with a link to this thread, and your forum name, to support@holdemmanager.com. I will have one of the other tech guys or developers give us both a answer as to what is going on.

Re: Holdem Manager: 1.11.02 Official Release (15 day trial) (Omaha & Table Scanner/Tracker)

Thanks for the help previously.

1 more thing,

in the HUD stats, what does Fold_vs_3bet.EP.blind means? Does that mean Fold when hes on EP against a 3bet by the blinds?
What about Fold_vs_3bet.EP.ip? 3 bet by someone out of the blinds that has position on him?

EDIT: nvm found the guide.

Re: Holdem Manager: 1.11.02 Official Release (15 day trial) (Omaha & Table Scanner/Tracker)

I have just installed the trial for Holdem manager ( have a license for pokertracker 2 and want to test it to know if I will upgrade to PT3 or move to holdem manager for omaha support) : but I got one main issue.

I have only imported my hand histories from stars (some are dated prior to 2008) and my omaha hi/lo SNGs and MTTs are recognized as Fixed limit holdem.

Over variants are fine ; it even loads the tourney summaries I requested from stars I saved as text files on my computer. But regarding omaha hi/lo it won't load the payouts and It won't tick the box in the summary column : am I doing something wrong ? I tried a cash session of omaha O8 at the penny tables to give it a try and no problem there.

I checked the holdem manager forum and can't find a thread concerning this issue : just found the upgrade to the latest beta. So i did move my histories /summaries to another folder, tried another import with latest update but same results. Neel help : 14 days left.

You need to request and import any/all your tournament histories and import those to HM. Stars did not write the tourney summaries to your hard drive, like FTP does. Stars recently began writing the summary information in the hand history and version 1.11.02 has support for the new format.

Email support@pokerstars.com and ask for ALL your old Hand Histories and Tournament Summaries.

They will send you an email with links to zip files of your hand histories. Download all the zip files. Right-Click > Extract the contents of each zip file to a new folder. HM > Import From Folder for all of the unzipped hands.

The tournament summaries should be attached to the email as .htm files. Download the attachments. HM > Import File(s) for all of those files. It will probably ask you to search/select your Pokerstars screen name. If the files are sent as .html you will need to rename them (Right-Click > Rename) from .html to .htm extensions.

If you continue to have problems send those files to our support email as well and we can test them and help you get everything sorted out. We can also offer extended trials if you need more time to accurately test the product due to these or other issues.
