Hi Scylla
I have a range of EVs in the card matrix (sorry I can't add a picture as I can only see the option on twoplustwo to link to an image URL). How do I export the hand order (as determined by EV) to upload into a custom hand ranking? To do it manually by dragging the 169 pairs around would take forever and is prone to error.

Thanks
Rod

Hi Rod,

For that:
1) Press F7 to compute the tree
2) Mouse over the EV field for the decision (all 169 hands must have an EV for this)
3) Press Alt+R
4) Copy the EV ranking
5) Go to the hand ranking editor
6) Create a new ranking by duplicating one of the other ones
7) Rename the new ranking
8) Click on "Import ranking" and paste the ranking from 4)
9) Save and close

See this YouTube video for a demonstration:

Cheers,

Scylla

PS:
For some reason the video is only in 360p, but it should be clear enough for demonstration purposes.

Thanks for the fast reply Scylla.

For some reason Alt-R is doing nothing for me post flop. I am also not seeing the new pop-ups you created a few months ago, and when I right click on a post flop node the tree builder doesn't work.

I AM able to do Alt-R and see the ranges on PREflop hands, but not postflop.

I updated about a week ago (v 3.2.9). I am using Windows 10. Any ideas?

Thanks.

The Alt+R toggle only works preflop; it is designed to be used together with the hand ranking editor. It's not possible to import postflop rankings into this preflop editor, given that in that case suits affect the EVs. For example if AhKh has a low EV and AdKd a high one, then the editor will have no way of ranking AKs.

If you still want to see a ranking according to EV then I suppose you could use the Alt+A toggle. See the pic below. In the table you can sort according to EV. You can use the slider to visualize the top% distribution. And if you want text output, you can use the text output button.

However, once again, a postflop ranking can not be imported as a preflop ranking, due to EVs differing per suit.

First of all, please make sure that you have the popups activated under "Settings->Dynamic popup settings". Other than that, can you please try one of the example files under /equilibrium_sample_files? Just load any one of them, run the solver, and see if you get popups when you mouse over an item in your tree. The only reason I can think of of there being no popups is if you mouse over an item that is never reached. In this case there's no popups to be shown.

One reason I can think of where this doesn't work is if you use it on a decision where the player is faced with an all-in shove. In this case the wizard won't come up, given that the player can not take any actions anyhow. Another explanation is if you're trying to use it in a tree with more than two players, given that the wizard is intended for heads-up trees.

If you want me to take a look, then please send a savefile to support. I'd just like to check if there's possibly something with your tree that I'm overlooking.

Thanks Scylla.

I will send you a savefile re: the popups. The example file works. Mine doesn't.

Re: the tree builder, I had 3 players. Sorry!

Thanks re the Alt-R - I was post-flop.

Scylla

I now need to begin a tree which began at flop, to start at pre flop. I don't want to recreate the large complicated tree. Is there a way to copy the post flop tree from one file to a new file which starts pre flop, and paste it on?

Thanks

Ok, I've received your file.
And indeed, one problem is that there's 3 players.
Another problem is that you need to enter a flop.
Other than that, I would strongly recommend using the wizard to build postflop trees, as opposed to doing it by hand.

If you just use the wizard to create your postflop tree (which I strongly recommend), then you really shouldn't need this.
You can just call the wizard again and recreate the tree.

The wizard only works for heads-up trees.
It is designed in order to work with the solver.
The popups will work in 3-handed trees though, as long as you've set a flop.

The dynamic popup system is awesome!

Any chance for pre flop solver or plo solver in future?

Thank you, I'm very pleased with how it all turned out.
In regards to your other question, we'll see what we can do.

Cheers,

Scylla

Please set an exception in your virus scanner. Most likely it's interfering with the software. Also, please check if your computer's date is set correctly. Finally, please try uninstalling and reinstalling to a different directory. This should ensure a fresh reinstall, just in case somehow a file got corrupted.

If the above still doesn't work, please uninstall and try the 32 bit version, just to see if there's any issue there. After that, please mail support and we'll see if possibly a custom version will fix your issue.

Is there a way to automatically run EVs after stopping equilibrium solver or choosing turn cards?

The ability to lock some hands in the equilibrium solution are great, but it would be even better if it was allowed choose the specific frequency of different action for the hand.

The subtree wizard for building trees automatically includes donkbets and significantly increases the size of the game tree and solving time. The ability to choose if they're included or not would be great, but I know I can go in and delete them manually.

Scylla, is it possible to add bet sizing fields of subtree wizard to main window of program in order to change sizing faster. It would be cool if I applied subtree wizard could change betting amount for instance near flop, turn, river buttons. Also much appreciated to see combo rounding and multiple betting size options in the next releases

Ok, thank you for your suggestions.
I'll see what I can do.

When I start the program, I am getting randomly one of three behaviors:

*) The program opens like this (without flashing the startup window):

*) After the startup window I get "Encountered an improper argument." error:

after which, the program starts like this (with the main window not working):

*) The program starts normally.

So it normally takes a few tries to get the program running. What could be the problem?

The startup window and the program itself are two separate pieces of software.
They haven't even been created with the same compiler, so there's really no reason I can think of why both wouldn't run.
The startup screen in particular has been used for years now, and this issue has never been reported before.

It sounds to me that this is most likely due to your virus scanner interfering with the software. Or possibly something is wrong on your system itself. Are you perhaps running on a virtual machine? In that case you may be using incorrect settings.

Other than that, you may want to try uninstalling and trying the 32bit version instead, just to see if perhaps that works for you.

Also, if you resize the program's window, does that perhaps trigger it to draw the startup screen?

It occured to me that the window in the first screenshot actually is the startup window.

Also, in the second case, most of the menu is disabled (the only other enabled menu item is Help -> About this software...):

The About screen works, but clicking the other menu items have no effect on the window. Except that Open... opens the file chooser, but opening a saved file leaves the window blank.

Seems that disabling the virus protection doesn't help.
I'm not on a virtual machine.
Resizing the window doesn't trigger redrawing.

When running the main program directly (CardRunnersEV_C.exe or CardRunnersEV_T.exe), I get randomly either the improper argument error and blank window as earlier or the program starts normally (as expected the CardRunnersEV_T.exe says it can't be run with regkey.dat present. If the improper argument error occurs then it doesn't get so far, only the blank window appears).

The problem might be caused because I tried to associate .stx extension to open with CardRunnersEV, but maybe it's unrelated. Removing the association also doesn't seem to help.

Reinstalling also didn't help. Haven't tried the 32bit version.

The most interesting part is the random behavior. I would expect a consistency - either the program always works or always gives an error.

It seems that I found the cause of the problem.
Nahimic for MSI (a program to enchance audio) seems to be conflicting with the CardRunnersEV. When I close Nahimic, CREV always starts. With Nahimic open, again the error sometimes appears.

Weird. But googling 'Nahimic conflict' shows that it conflicts with many programs (mostly games).

Ok, that's interesting.
Thank you for letting me know.

Hi scylla,

Is there a way to export the data (ranges, frequencies, board, etc.) after an equilibrium run if I want to make some custom analysis? For an example, I want to run 100 flops with a range, and then want to see on which boards was each individual hand a cbet and on which ones was check.

Thanks

Hi FloxedG,

I can look into it for future releases, but right at this moment there's no automated way of doing something like this.
