Re: ***Stoxpoker EV calculator 1.1.2 released***

Hi all,

I have a problem - probably a very simple one but the calculator shows an error.

As an exercise I want to calculate the EV of the following play:

NL 50

Hero is SB with 50$
Villain is BB with 20$

Holecards:
Hero: 8s7s
Villain: AKo

PF: Hero calls .25, Villain raises to 2, Hero calls

(Pot is now 4$)
Flop: Ks Js 2h

Hero checks, Villain bets 4, Hero raises to 18

Now, the possible actions of villain are folding and calling (to make it easier, the betting ends on the flop since I cover the whole stack of villain with my raise).

Assumption: Villain calls 70% of the time and folds 30% of the time.

Goal: I want to know what the absolute EV of my raise on the flop is.

Now, if I try to run the EV function, it says the there is no end to the hand. I have read the tutorial but still can't figure out what is wrong. I think I don't really understand how to correctly end actions

If someone could simulate this example for me, it would be great!

Thx!

Re: ***Stoxpoker EV calculator 1.1.2 released***

Why doesnt this uninstall or install over previous versions when installing an update? I went into my Control Panel, and I have 6 versions of this software installed. This seems a bit silly.

Yeah, sorry, that's my inexperience with working with installers at work.
However, from now on all versions will be installed in
c:/program files/stoxpoker/stoxpoker ev calculator

Problem now is that the installer doesn't replace files so you manually need to remove them.
I'll probably switch to another installer once I have the time to look at some alternatives.

You're probably missing an all hands condition somewhere.
The following works fine for me:

Re: ***Stoxpoker EV calculator 1.1.2 released***

Hey I'm having a problem w/ some of the equity numbers that this thing is spitting out.

My math is not matching up so I thought I would post it to see if you can show me my error.

heads up $2/4

I'm trying to figure out the equity of a flop float.

Here are the conditions:

SB raises to 12 BB calls
SB cbets flop to 18 100% of the time.
SB cbets turn 28% of the time.
SB Checks and calls a bet of $40 on the river 20% of the time.

So here is my math:

.28*(-26)+.72(.8(34)-.2(66))=n

.28*(-26)-> when SB bets turn BB loses 8 he put in pre + 18 flop

72(.8(34)-.2(66))-> When SB checks BB wins pot minus money he put in (34) 80% of the time and loses money he put in pre+flop+turn (66) 20% of the time

When I solve I get a little over $2 for n but the program says it is slightly -EV.

Can you tell me where the error is?

Hi Craig,

Could you add a note to the decision to which the question applies (hover over the button and press Alt+N) and mail the savefile to stoxpoker_ev@hotmail.com.

Cheers,

Scylla

Re: ***Stoxpoker EV calculator 1.1.2 released***

Is there any news on a dedicated Stox EV forum where we can discuss hands with attachments?

For now I think this forum will do the trick.
I don't know of an easy way to make attachments available at twoplustwo though.

Alternatively, you can make a post on software section of the public forum of www.stoxpoker.com.
You cán attach files there.
Just make a post there and link to it here.

Re: ***Stoxpoker EV calculator 1.1.2 released***

Ok I just build a fairly big tree covering all usual lines for a BTN vs BB hand with a specific board.

If anyone is interested in getting the file pm me. I'd also be interested in some sort of study group where we discuss hands/situations/trees etc.

Why not host it on a free hosting site - such as MediaFire, MegaUpload, RapidShare, etc?? Then simply post a link in this thread to download from the host site?

is a bit of a hassle
would be easier to just upload them in a post you make on 2+2
(where are the days where you could just upload pix to forums? i'm getting old)

Opening one extra tab in your browser to upload a file is a hassle? I do this with files and images daily while posting here, to help others. Sure, it takes an extra 30 seconds or w/e, but thats just what you do if you want to contribute to and help the community on the forums.

Very few forums allow you to upload files/images anymore, because they dont want to have to supply the bandwidth for hosting them all.

Re: ***Stoxpoker EV calculator 1.1.2 released***

Hi guys,

You can now get the version 1.1.3 here.
For now I've just posted it on the crappy website.
I'll get everything properly sorted out in a few hours.

For proper installation:
- Dowload the file to disk before running it, otherwise it may crash.
- If you have installed a previous version, manually remove the StoxEv_E.exe file before installing because the installer doesn't overwrite existing files.

New features:

ICM model
ICM model now mathematically accurate if either the number of players or the number of prizes is less than 8. (I incorrectly already stated this for 1.1.2. Unfortunately I realized this too late and couldn't edit my message anymore.)

Hand history imports
Ultimate bet is now supported. Also some bugfixes.

Excel output for graphs
It ain't pretty but it works. When you make a graph and click on the yellow "E" button a dialog appears from which you can copy paste the output to excel.

New popup
After you perform an EV run or an equity run and hover over a decision button a new popup will now be displayed giving you the chances of having an A,K,Q,etc.

Each bar is subdivided into smaller sections. The purple part stands for a pocket pair. The height of the red bar indicates the value of the kicker. If the red bar is full, then the kicker is an A, if it's full except for 1 pixel, then it's a K, etc.

The popup is intended to give you a quick visual impression of your opponents hand distribution.

Other
A whole bunch of smallish stuff.
- The bug which I mentioned at the end of the second part of the video manual is now fixed.
- Save, undo, redo buttons are greyed out if they don't apply
- The program won't ask you if you want to save if you haven't changed anything.
- Added links to the video manual under Help->Video manual
- Added a shift in the popups so that they are not displayed over what you're hovering over
- When you add a new condition and then click cancel this no longer means an all hands condition is added anyhow
- When you add a new preflop condition and immediately click ok then this is considered as an all hands condition instead of an empty condition

Cheers,

Scylla
