Re: SNG Coaching

Just posting some feedback...
Rakes is not only an interesting and good person, but a great coach. I've only known him for about a week, but I can personally say that I have never been happier to have known someone in the poker community than this man. Not only has he vastly improved my win rate, but he is constantly checking up on my progress and helping me with tough spots. For those of you who are wondering, our sessions go something like this: 30-40 minutes of play, then the rest of the two-hour block was going over mistakes and leak-finding, as well as him helping me re-evaluate optimal lines for value. Here's a graph of results, I think it's pretty easy to see where his coaching changed my win rate.

Re: SNG Coaching

Rakes is definitely a very knowledgeable great SNG coach. I'm primarily a cash player looking to play SNGs on the side, and rakes understood this, simplified SNGs for me, and definitely helped accelerate my play in a short period of time.

Definitely recommend rakes as a coach.

Re: SNG Coaching

Just finished my session today with Charles aka rakes, it went very smooth. We booked the session at 9, but he had another student so he had to push it back to 10, so he refunded me 10% = $15, which was very generous/considerate of him. I never really knew the power of some of the tools such as pokerstove, and today I learned how useful it can be + he talked a bit o theory, and ways on how i can improve my game. He was not rushing or anything, he stayed until all my questions were asked. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a well rounded/easy going/very knowledgeable coach. His price is a bit steep for a lot of people, but I can guarantee that it's worth every penny. I am looking forward to my next session with him after my exams. Thanks once again Charles!

Re: SNG Coaching

I had my second session with rakes this week and it was great. We worked on my game, we played some poker, and I totally owned a table in the craziest end-game I've been in.

Having a session with rakes is like having a Mr. Luckbox along with you. Aces, kings, 52o winning against ATo, having a session with him might be profitable alone on that fact.

But seriously, rakes is a good player and adapts well to his students. I believe he is a very good coach. My results since my first session are very good indeed (including my biggest month ever), and I feel more confident about my game. His price may be higher than some, but I feel he is worth it. Thanks for the session, and for being my Dr. Rungood.

Re: SNG Coaching

Hey! Im Nichol50 on Stars and am a high stakes HU sng player. Rakes is a good friend of mine and we often discuss strats. i think he has a brilliant mind in poker and is extremely good at explaining his thought process. I think that $75/hr is a steal and that anybody who is looking to improve their game will greatly benefit from his coaching.

Re: SNG Coaching

i had 5 hours coaching with rakes split in 2 sessions and both were great. he watched me play in both sessions pointed out some hands were i made mistakes and talked a lot about theory in general with helped my sng-thinking a lot. we had some troubel to set up a second session but he made up for it with sending me 2 very good videos.
i can only recomned him especially for this price.

Re: SNG Coaching

i have been a long time student of rakes and can recommend him to any one who wants to improve there game ,he found so many leaks in my game and put them right for me . iwas a losing player before my coaching began ,but since my coaching with rakes my game as turned around, and i have had 3 out of 4 winning months up to press, the losing month was only a loss of $89.considering i play $50 to $60 games mainly the loss is minimal, before his coaching i was losing evey month what a difference he has made to my game, i recommend you get him while you can $75 his a snip

Re: SNG Coaching

I used Rakes for the 1st time about 3 months ago and was very impressed with how he structured his session. He used a 2 hour time slot which allowed me to play my game under his supervision with no input to scan for leaks and the follow up the rest of this session with correcting these leaks.

I have used him again just a few days ago following a real bad DS and have regained all my confidence and tweaked a few things that were letting me down, and ive done nothing but win SNGs ever since!

re: Rakes's SNG coaching, DragTheBar instructor, Free Video! - Rakes is back

I had a session with Rakes about 3 weeks ago and he watched me play and pointed out the areas for improvement. It helped me a lot and I can play bigger SNG's now and turn more profit because of it.

I definetly recommend him for people who search coaching to improve their game.

Rakes:

One question. I have to move abroad because of studies. However, I need to take some savings with me. Do you think is realistic to make 10k playing the low stakes (starting from the 11s) before April under your guidance?

It depends. What skill level are you at right now? How many hours can you put in? How many tables can you play at once? How good of a learner are you? Of course how hot you run during the time matters a lot as well.

My gut tells me if you have to ask this your chances don't look great. If you've never made 10k in poker before, you are not likely to make it in less than three months. I can only promise to improve your game and bring it to the next level when you put in time to learn and practice.

Sorry if it's not the answer you're looking for
