Qualifications
My name is Jared “RikaKazak” Bartlett and I've been a professional online poker player for 6 years. In 2004 at the age of 20, I dropped out of Gonzaga University while studying electrical engineering/business to pursue my dream of being an online poker player. I had $80,000 saved up, $50,000 for my bankroll, and $30,000 just in case I had to return to school. Since then, I've won over $1 million from online poker, and have never returned to college.
During my career I've played SNGs, HUSNGs (back when Bodog was 100% rakeback effective), MTTs, 6 max, and full ring. Nowadays I typically play NL200-NL1K full ring, with some live full ring and live MTTs mixed in; however, I only coach NLHE Full Ring because it is my strongest game.
I've won several live MTTs, including the Wildhorse Resort and Casino Summer Poker Rodeo for $18,118 and the Evening Event at the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $31,295.
In 2009, Leggo Poker offered me a video producer spot after reviewing my HEM database and trial videos. Since then, I have made 25 videos and will continue to make more as time goes on. My videos have received an average score of 9.03. Here is a sample video so you can get a feel for my teaching style and personality type.
Coaching Format
Lessons are 1 hour in length and will be held over the standard TeamViewer / Mikogo and Skype combo. The only other program you will need is PokerStove, which is also free.
First lesson: I get to know the student by going through their HEM database to identify the student's player style and to identify major leaks. I ask questions such as “why do you play poker?” and “what would you consider your strengths/weaknesses as a player?” The first lesson is $50; I discount the price because it's a trial period and a test to see if I'm a good fit for you or not.
Second lesson and forward: I have 3 main formats for a lesson: Hand history review, video sweat, and theory discussion.
Hand History Review: During a week or two of a student's play I have them use holdem manager and mark difficult and/or interesting hands. They send me the hands before the lesson and I analyze them. During the lesson we go over the hands and discuss anything that comes up.
Video Sweat: My coaching method is a little different than a standard coach's sweat session. The student records a video with video recording software such as camtasia then sends me the file through a file sharing program such as megaupload. I watch the video BEFORE the lesson and mark interesting spots. To avoid a dull/boring lesson, we may jump to specific hands that I've analyzed and feel you can learn the most from. I do NOT charge extra to watch a video before the lesson. A lot of coaches charge extra to watch the video before hand OR they only do the sweat while the student is paying. I don't.
Theory Discussion: During this type of format we chat via Skype while you look at my computer screen via Team Viewer. We discuss topics such as defending vs. 3 bets, how to improve your red line, how to play marginal hands out of position, and any other topic the student wishes to discuss. All of my theory lessons are pre-planned, so there are no “on the fly” talks, and every topic I discuss has been given months or years of my thoughts/preparation.

Life happens and I understand that. The first cancellation, even if last minute, costs you absolutely nothing. However, because I have several students and am a busy person, repeat offenders will be charged $50 per no-show. If you provide at least 24 hours notice prior to a lesson, you will NEVER be charged, no matter how often you cancel.
