Not very helpful but have a funny story vaguely about pool in Wales.
Went to a great Aunt's funeral who lived deep in the valleys of rural Wales. Stay at a pub in a village that has about ten houses in it. They have 8(!) pool teams and a nice UK ball table. Overall standard is OK and I have a lot of fun shamelssly thrashing the locals at her wake.
Later on that night we are discussing life back in London and I mention about how nice it is to be able to see the stars in Wales as their is no light pollution this deep in the countryside. They ask me what light pollution is and I tell them it makes the sky orange and you can't see the stars. They literally burst out laughing and say 'Ooh we are not that stupid out here - don't wind us up'. I keep trying to tell them but they refuse to believe me or my other family.
Eventually I say 'Look just Google it if you don't believe me'.
On a more helpful note, pool and snooker have seemed national obsessions everywhere I have been in Wales so you should to be able to find a game pretty easily. Sorry I don't have any specifics but never toured round there much.
