Pool for money
Hi. Do some pool players make their $$ the old fashion way, i.e. through wagering on side/private games in pool halls or bars? I know there is a professional league but payouts aren't high like in other sports, so I imagine there are some ballers out there wagering big stakes on private games, just like how Phil Ivey, and some other famous poker pros make huge bets when they play golf.
Also do you know where the 'action' is in the US? I'm thinking there might be some good money games in Vegas, for obvious reasons, but I don't know.
All I know is I like pool a hell of a lot more than poker, lol.
Thanks

Re: Pool for money
Heres some footage of Viffer playing Alex Pagulayan for 40k. Viffer is known as Dippy Dave in the pool scene.

There used to be late action in a joint in Chelsea area of Manhattan (lower west side) Ginky used to uh, consort there.
Kid Chocolate should know plenty of places.

Re: Pool for money
I was just in the US talking with several pros and from what I understand the majority of the action is still in the South, specifically Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama.
Viffer created a lot of action in the pool world. Have to love a guy who walks into a pool room filled with champions and says, "I hear in the game if you win $50,000 you're famous. Well, I'm here to make somebody famous!" and then throw a $50,000 brick of hundreds down on the table. So awesome!

LOL, Lyke A Bauce.
Viffer knows how to handle the champs. He always tends to find action games where he gets ridiculous weight in his advantage.
Heres is some Viffer playing One-hole maestro, Scott Frost (arguably one of the best at the game in the world).
Notice Viffer putting on a front? Ive never seen him act that way before, Its likely the character/schtick he puts on when he finds action or enters a pool hall.

Re: Pool for money
There is little money in pool these days (Viffer being an exception). Most of the money in pool is made from drug sales...and I hate to say that. I went and played in my towns big tourney at Diamond's Billiards in Cape Coral. Entry is $50. So it's pretty serious. I get in their and Cory Duell is there, several other big names too. Men's pool has gone to hell. Women's pool is going strong. The male side of pool is too shady.

Re: Pool for money
Hey guys. If there is Alot of action there in Vegas.when I'm in town I'm up for a battle of individual games.best of 11 pool and snooker heads up nlh and a round of golf. If it's tied chess.. If the person can't play chess. 4 rounds of boxing. Il put up 20k whoever wants a challenge let me know here.if a game gets set up and people wanna buy a piece that would also be fun. I can hold my own in these games wanna play mostly because it would be Alot of fun and I'm a degen hehe. Ps don't watch much pool but viff is getting schooled in that video..the guy is clearly a class player but a crap hustler

Come to mobile, alabama. I know a 54 year old man who will play you some nine ball or one pocket, play head up nlh, and also go a few rounds with you. You can bet whatever you want.
