Mosconi Cup Thread

Surprised nobody made this thread earlier. Guess I'll do it now.

Anyways, Mosconi Cup starts in a couple days. Who's everyone rooting for? Anyone going? Anyone got money riding on it? Predictions?

I'm not rooting for a particular side. Don't feel a strong love or hatred for USA or Europe. Just looking forward to watching some big names shoot some pool. I do like Johnny Archer and I'll be rooting for him in all his matches. I'm a little disappointed Karl Boyes and Corey Deuel didn't make it this time around. Boyes played great his first time round. They said he might be Europe's weak link but I think he carried his fair share of the weight well. Deuel, I just like to watch him play. His cue action is one of the best I've seen and he plays a calculating but still aggressive style.

Is there going to be a live stream? I don't think any station here will air it, but I'd love to watch it. I always enjoy the Mosconi Cup.

chanfeed and atdhe might air the Mosconi Cup. I'm not sure but they always have a wide variety of sports and I think I've seen snooker aired on them.

Boyes is a bit of a form player so in a 5 player per team format I guess he could be considered risky. Deuel, yep I'd like to see him there too for the same reasons as Frank. Anyway, go Europe!

Mosconi cup should really be a mix of games: 10 ball, 8 ball, straight pool. It's not big TV anyway, only the pool fans watch.

Re: Mosconi Cup Thread

If they made the Mosconi cup a mix of 9 ball and snooker, game over USA.

Re: Mosconi Cup Thread

Rodney Morris got trounced and Van Boening and Dechaine's just imploded. How did Dechaine miss that 9? I mean it's not automatic for your average rec player but he's a pro for the love of all that's holy.

Lol at Jim Wych getting called out for excess verbal handjobs to Niels Feijen (spelling's a little suspect but it's always so with Dutch names).

Jim Wych says "welcome to the Mosconi Cup" one more time, I'm going to smash a baby seal to death with a cuter baby seal.

Agree. But I would make day four 9 ball for TV. Day 1 straight pool, day 2 10 ball, day 3 8 ball and day 4 9ball. Saturday and Sunday games that casual players will recognise.

Re: Mosconi Cup Thread

Or mix of 8 and 9 on both day 3 or 4. Or something along those lines.
