How awesome is Ronnie? How awesome is Ronnie?

01-13-2015 , 02:42 PM
Ronnie equals Hendry's record for centuries including amazing fluke:

He wants 1000 tons in his career:

I'd settle for 1 in a lifetime .......

Probably has best hand eye co-ordination of anyone who has ever walked the earth. I highly doubt there will ever be a more talented snooker player. Only other sportsmen i can think of in his league in terms of talent are jordan, messi, federer ..... and that's it, any others?
04-10-2015 , 07:44 PM
Any top 10 golfer in the world.

I don't think you understand the exercise Suit. The top 10 golfers are significantly better than the number 11 golfer?

I'd add Gretzky to Doug's list, and agree with his sentiment that O'Sullivan is a similar outlier.

I think Mayweather probably belongs in there too.

Sorry, I thought he was talking about hand-eye coordination. My bad.

Ok so any golfer that makes the PGA tour.

If we are just talking in terms of talent...
Tiger Woods, jack nicklaus
04-11-2015 , 02:54 PM
Tiger for sure. I've never had the sense nicklaus was at that level from a talent point of view but i wasn't around when he was in his heyday. I'd put mayweather in there too.

I was thinking Woods too, but excluded him because once he set that unheard of high bar, the rest of the field closed the gap and elevated play across the board. The other golfers just turned out to have been lazy before Tiger showed up.

The rest of the snooker world hasn't risen to Ronnie's challenge. This proves either that they are lazier than golfers (possible), or that O'Sullivan really is a perfect storm.

Tiger is the protracer GOAT even now, excluding driver obv. But i take your point. Pretty sure snooker players log big hours on the practice table.

So this thread is now about Woods ball-vagina coordination?
No it's not.
It's about how awesome Ronnie is.
When I first picked up a cue and tried to play I watched snooker.
O'sullivan immediatly caught my eye and gave me inspiration on what could be done on the felt.
I tried it and failed miserably. Except on those few nights where everything seemed to mysteriously come together. And those are the snooker nights I remember.

Hope to see him at the championships.

Ronnie probably won't be playing again anytime soon. Don Bradman is probably the biggest outlier ever. Usain Bolt is also up there, thought that's not really hand-eye coordination. Also, Potripper.

Surely Messi is foot-eye co-ordination? But I get your point. But I think Ronaldo (the original, fat one was better).

Tennis is hand-eye co-ordination and basketball is to an extent. But snooker? You can play well by using one and then the other.

I havebeen watching ronnie for quite some time and I think he is awesome though it is shame when his deamons strikes, if you know what I mean. First time I came across snooker was when playing Carom3D, anyone know it?

^ Not bad for someone not playing competitively at the moment.....
12-12-2015 , 01:29 PM
Really makes me wonder how he would do playing 9 or 10 ball on a 9 footer. I can't imagine he would ever miss. Am I wrong to think he could beat everyone?
12-12-2015 , 09:40 PM
He can't even beat a girl at 9-ball

He'd probably lose to a top pool player at 9-ball because his break wouldn't be as good, and 9-ball is easy enough that at that level nobody misses with an open table so the break is a huge advantage.

****ing amazing. How can one person be so good in a certain sport. Mindblowing!

hes in the final of the masters, starts today at 1pm. keeps giving interviews moaning about how terrible he's playing and how he's not feeling it at all, seems really down about snooker atm, but who knows it might all come together for the final.
01-17-2016 , 11:29 AM
He has certainly settled in to the final - so far.
01-17-2016 , 04:15 PM
Was that the earliest ever Masters final finish?
02-16-2016 , 01:05 PM
I'm sure he did something similar a few years back:
