im not no pro player but the aiming systems just dont work. you just have to learn where to line up and hit the object ball.

as far as the diamond system. it is from billiards and use those white spots on the rails assigning them numbers to easily figure out where your ball will go after it comes off one. many utube videos to show it and all the older pool and billiard books have it in it.

it looks tough but easy after you learn the system of the numbers or at least how certain diamonds bring you back to certain places.

even on short one rail banks you use the diamonds to find your angles where to hit. then of course adjust that for speed and English.

a simple example is if your cue ball is on the third diamond up from the hole on your side and you need to bank it to that hole. you would hit at 1.5 diamonds up from the rail across.

this would also apply to banking an object ball in front of the cue ball.

Lets try something for a quick example. Consider this the end rail of a table where the top 3 diamonds are on the short rail and the diamonds on the side are the side rails. On the side rails each diamond is a number and the side pocked would be #4. On the end rails the diamonds are every other number with the even numbers being halfway between the diamonds.

All of the shots of 2 rails or more use running English. For this example we can look at a 2-rail kick shot starting from the right side rail (point A) hitting towards the end rail. If A is on a direct line between 3 on the side rail and 3 on the end rail we can shoot the cue ball directly at 3 with running English (top left) and the cue ball should go 2 rails and end up in the corner pocket. You need to shoot the shot a few times to see how much English and power you need to use to get it to go in and then use that same stroke for every shot. So to get to the corner pocket we shoot from 3 to 3, 4 to 4, 2 to 2, etc.

If you shoot from 3 to 5 we just take 3-5=-2 so you should end up with the cue ball coming directly at the 2nd diamond up from the corner pocket. If you go the other way and shoot from 3 to 1 we take 3-1=2 and you should end up with the cue ball coming directly at the first diamond on the short rail from the corner pocket. Remember that on the short rail each diamond is 2 so #1 would be a half diamond and 2 is a full diamond. The farther you get from the pocket, the less accurate this is and you have to just practice to get the feel for it. Hopefully this makes sense. It is hard to put in writing. Search youtube for videos explaining it.

I forgot to mention, in case it isn't obvious, the corner pocket would be considered "0" on the 2 rail kicks. So shooting from 3 to 3 you take 3-3=0 so you end up in the corner pocket.

Another example is 3 rail kicks. If you were looking at the above table and you were in the bottom left corner pocket we call that "5" and you were shooting 3 rail kick, your aim point would be on the top right rail somewhere. So you can figure out where your cue ball will hit on the top left rail by taking your starting point (5) minus your aim point. SO if you aim at 3 you'd take 5-3=2. That means when your cue ball comes off the top rail it will be going directly at the 2nd diamond. If you aim from the corner pocket (5) at 1 you take 5-1=4 and your cue ball will be coming off the top rail directly at the side pocket.

Keep in mind you are aiming at the actual diamond on the rail, not at the point on the cushion in front of the diamond. Try it out.

Learn the rest of the number yourself and you can get good at 2-3 rail kicks. It can save your ass.
