I love nine ball almost as much as I love NLHE. I often think about 9 ball as I think about poker and find no one else I play with does. I find there is a lot of similarities and a lot of unique aspects as well.

I am an amateur but rarely lose when playing vs coworkers and friends. I understand how to control the cue, english, how to think 3+ balls ahead in order to run the table, how to defend when making the shot is very difficult, etc etc.

I am interested in playing 9 ball tournaments and google doesn't give the specific result I need. Are there any VA, NC, MD, DC, WV tournaments for $? Any tips on where to start or how to improve, which tournaments to look for? I am wondering if anyone has been in my situation and has any tips on where to go from here.

I basically am looking to play a lot more than I do and am wondering if anyone has an insight on where to start and what to begin playing before I play $ tournaments or if I should jump straight in?
