Oh wait, I just read the article on BBC which apparently left a bunch of the interview out. He went on to generalise about Chinese players in general and called out Fu and Liang by name, which is ridiculous.

There was a moment in the pool WC a few years back where Earl Strickland moved a ball like a couple of inches with his bridge while taking a shot, the referee didnt see it so he continued.

Ofcourse that's lol pool but I was shocked to see that on television.

Allen would have **** fits if Earl Strickland played snooker.

I'd have a lot of sympathy for Cao even if he did realise he'd fouled. Inexperienced young guy, in a foreign country, without a good grasp of the English language, playing in probably the biggest match of his life to date; there has to be something of a "dear in the headlights" moment followed by some embarrassment for not immediately saying something. It would certainly be forgivable.

Ebdon looks to be employing some playing even slower than normal tactics already to piss Ronnie off. Looks to be working too - only in the first frame and Ronnie is already slouched back in his seat staring at the ceiling.

Yea that seems like the worst matchup for Ronnie.

God I hate Ebdon.

If Ebdon somehow wins this frame, having needed 3+ snookers on the yellow (40 pt difference), gonna tilt Ronnie no end.

butnahhhhhhh, 3-1 Ronnie.

I remember one of the matches they played before where Ebdon asked the referee to clean the white every 4 or 5 shots to try to slow Ronnie down and keep him in the chair longer

Ebdon playin pretty bad right now

Mark Allen is a knobend. Plain and simple. He used to play in the Northern Ireland league before he turned professional and played a few times against my local club. Granted the guy in our club was actually better than him and had a better record against him (gave it all up for drinking and women). Allen always was a moaning ****.

I remember on one occasion he was caught changing the points on the score board and acted like a spoilt brat when 4 people confronted him. No surprise that he is always moaning these days as well. He's a dick.

Have to say I'm surprised that he thought the kid acted unsporting. I saw the shot and I wasn't so sure it was a push myself.

As for the matches, you have to love it when pool and snooker players are complaining that matches are too long when tennis players are out there running their asses off for five plus hours. What a joke. I happen to think they should go a step farther and take away all the stupid breaks the players take. Why the hell do they play eight or nine games and then take a break for a day or whatever? Ridiculous. Show some moxie for heaven's sake.

As much as I hate watching Ebdon play, I really hope he beats Osullivan. Let him retire again
04-24-2012 , 11:03 AM
I do not see how a snooker fan can make the above post.

Even if watching Ronnie retire or the nth time has some lulz value, watching Ebdon progress past the first round is the WOAT thing that can happen to any snooker tournament.

Actually I think it was less about Ronnie and more about trying to keep himself from blowing it during that match. That was a pretty pressure-filled last couple of games.

Besides, it was on Ronnie not to let himself get distracted (in the US they call it 'sharked') by Ebdon's routine, and he failed, pure and simple. He even said as much in the interview afterwards.

I have a ton of respect for Ebdon. Probably the one player who has made the most of his ability. Absolute gritty competitor. Might not be the most exciting snooker to watch, but it's no less deserving of winning frames.
04-24-2012 , 12:12 PM
He's obviously a very good player, doesn't mean I wanna watch him on my TV make a 50 break in 20 minutes.

As people you like Ronnie more than Ebdon?
04-24-2012 , 12:32 PM
As a casual snooker fan I like Ronnie >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.. Ebdon.

Don't know enough about Ebdon to make a character judgement, and don't care.

The Mark Allen interview if you hadn't seen it:

Fast forward to about the 2 minute mark

Mother****er! I want to watch the Williams match but the BBC red button appears to be ****ed, showing the other match on two options.

I had a similar problem yesterday.

"To watch the rest of the match, press the red button on your remote control"

I tried that and my telly switched itself off.
