andrew robinson is a great actor.

brad dourif was on voyager for a couple of episodes. he was fantastic too. he played wormtongue in lord of the rings, and he was in one flew over the cuckoo's nest.

they should have kept his character around. he was the best actor on the show by far and a fantastic character

Suder was a hell of a character. I liked his arc just the way it was.

Ya also freaked out when I realized the actor portraying Garak was in Hellraiser.

Brad Dourif is great. Sucks I don't even remember him being on Voyager. Guessing I conditioned myself to forget most of Voyager.

He sacrificed himself to help save the ship at the beginning of season 3 when the Kazon had taken it over. Yes the Kazon, the species so backwards the Borg actually refused to assimilate them, but spent 2 years as the main baddies.

Good god I hated the kazon. Worst big bads in trek history.

Man I'm sad nobody mentioned that one where everybody's memory is erased and there's a totally new character just hanging out like he had been there the whole time.

That's like an 85th percentile episode

Conundrum. Yup I like that one. I love how Worf assumes he's captain.

Yeah actually 85th percentile might be a bit low given the garbage of the first 2 seasons. There were like legit 2 episodes better than Conundrum in the first two seasons. But it's not on anyone's top ten list.

"In the Pale Moonlight", which I just watched possibly for the firs time, would be like 75% better if there was no first act with the Captain and Dax and they cut out the confession booth scenes.

As is, not even remotely as good as The Inner Light or the various TNG Twilight Zone knockoffs(the episodes where the universe is different but one character stays the same).

Pale Moonlight (and any of the good Dominion War arc episodes) is very different from those sorts of TNG episodes. So if you like Conundrum more than Moonlight then you just like Twilight Zone sci fi better than more military-oriented Battlestar Galactica sci fi.

Inner Light is miles ahead of something like Conundrum because it is both clever and well-executed and packs a tremendous emotional punch. Conundrum is well-executed but ultimately sterile. Sisqo was a more complex and interesting character than anyone in TNG.

I remember liking the DS9 episodes where giant fleets had big fights, I just legitimately thought "In the Pale Moonlight" had some really heavyhanded dialogue.

Also, while you're definitely right about early TNG, the S1 episode where they eat worms and explode the head worm monster by crossing the streams is absolutely in my top 10, and that was as dark and military oriented as the show would get until DS9.

Are you talking about Conspiracy? Oh man if that's in your TNG top ten...

Better TNG military-themed episodes are:

Best of Both Worlds
The Wounded
Chain of Command
Redemption
The Defector
Peak Performance
The Pegasus

Just off the top of my head, probably a lot more.

lol at sisqo being more interesting than data. i didn't like sisqo that much in most episodes. however, he was fantastic in the really good episodes.... i think all? the episodes he went back in time(or imagined he did), those episodes that dealt with racism, and the ones where he got deep into military command stuff with gem hadar.

i didn't like sisko's religious stuff, romantic stuff, baseball fascination, cooking, his obsession with that maqui guy who betrayed him, and he was a complete douche to picard in the first episode. yeah, i know the borg killed his wife, but that was not picard's fault. it was totally out of line the way he treated picard

Yeah of course he was totally out of line with how he treated Picard but we only know that because we saw Best of Both Worlds. Like if Sisqo saw Best of Both Worlds he would be all, well OK, good point Picard, whatever I'll give you a pass. But he probably just saw it on Federation CNN and Future Wolf Blitzer was all "Jean-Luc Picard: hero or war criminal," and Sisqo was all like "What did Picard tell the Borg and when did they tell it? Why won't they call Riker in front of the Federation Subcommittee for Borg Affairs? WOLF 359 NEVER FORGET"

Of course the Sisqo religious stuff was AIDS, baseball was mostly AIDS but the Vulcan-Sisqo baseball episode was mostly OK. Sisqo wasn't perfect to be sure but he was a much grittier character than Picard. Picard was like the fantasy model 18-19th century Royal Navy captain, Sisqo was like a Real American military man.

btw the Enterprise crew testifying in front of the Federation Congressional Subcommittee for Borg Affairs could have made a killer TNG episode. Have it be a two-parter co-mingled with "Family".

lol at future wolf blitzer and wolf359 never forget. i think it was just lame, lazy writing. sisko was an undeveloped character. he should have known better. he would never have fallen for future wolf blitzer.

if they wanted to have that blame dynamic, they should have had jake come in and blame picard for killing his mom. that would have been much better.

and yeah, the baseball game vs the vulcans was good, but it wasn't good because of sisko's character. it was the vulcans and the ferengi that made the game good.

Was Lower Decks the one where it was like, none of the main characters, just random nobodies? That was a really good one. TNG was usually great when it did **** like that, like the episode where everybody got turned into kids was an insanely stupid premise but I remember it being pretty good imo, the episode of DS9 where it was like the 1950s, that kind of risk taking.

Long story short, I discovered that both DS9 and TNG are on Amazon Prime and have been watching Star Trek for like the last 4 hours. It holds up surprisingly well!

Yeah that's Lower Decks. The blonde Bajorn that they killed was one of Wesley's classmates in "The First Duty".

The episode where they turned Keiko, Picard, Guinan, and Ro into 12-year-olds was OK. The kid who played Picard was quite good, and actually the same kid who played his nephew Rene in Family. 12-year-old Guinan was an atrocious actress but the other two were OK. Playing an adult that the audience is familiar with trapped in a child's body is basically an impossible task so that episode is just completely insane for them to even attempt, especially because they'd be limited in the takes they could do working with child actors. But Keiko and O'Brien have some great scenes where O'Brien is all "wtf is this some sort of Federation Child Protection Services sex predator entrapment scheme????"
