Barclay gets automatic cool cred for having been Howling Mad Murdock. It's like even though Keifer Sutherlands' character in Touch sucked, he is still awesome because he was Jack Bauer.

He likes old ladies and young boys! That's perfectly normal.

I was younger than Wes when I first watched TNG, iirc!! He was the only character I liked.

It wasn't till my twenties that I got into Voyager, then rewatched all of TNG and DS9. I caught Enterprise as it aired, and really enjoyed it, LDO. it sucked compared to the rest, though.

I've only seen about half of TOS. I've seen all the movies.

We don't even need to ask which is better between TNG and the original series, right? TNG is a landslide IMO. Agree?

TOS >>>>>>>>>> Voyager > TNG >>> Enterprise > DS9

If you eliminate over 30s, yes.

Apparently the correct answer for true science geeks is TOS over TNG but Picard over Kirk. This gains entrance to view the apartment.

That's just because TOS has an appropriate level of feminism and hippy-ness for the demographic. TNG goes a bit too far.

I really like TNG but I think as time passes TNG has aged much less well than TOS.

TNG has aged horribly. And the first two seasons are legit unwatchable, the only good episodes are Measure of a Man and Q Who. The Outrageous Okana is perhaps the worst television episode ever filmed.

Many of the later episodes have held up pretty well, but man those first two seasons are just cringeworthy. I wonder what caused the drastic uptick in quality from season 2 to 3.

Gene Roddenberry stepped down, Michael Piller was brought in as head writer and executive producer.

Iirc there's a significant budget increase, too. At least, production value goes way up.

One of my wife's friends is a major Trekkie, we went with her to an event with Michael Piller. According to him (IIRC) most of the S1 and some S2 scripts were rewrites of outlines that Roddenberry had written for TOS-PhaseII that TNG writers had to force fit into TNG's matrix. He said most of them were utter dreck and the ones that others wrote Roddenberry managed to turn into dreck with his own rewrites.

Triva - one of the reasons TNG looks so good is that it was shot on 35mm film instead of videotape.

Really Senor? I was under the impression that TNG aged pretty well. The only thing I've noticed that was really terrible is those tiny 13" screen, 2" thick monitors they used for video conferencing (with Starfleet from Picard's ready room, etc.).

First Officer in a TNG ship was the perfect job for a weaselly used car type. You get to influence all the captain's decisions yet you bear no responsibility for any consequences because after all The Captain made the final decision.

No one mentioned "Thine Own Self" from Season 7? Top 5 TNG for me for sure.

I am pretty rusty on Trek, but I didn't even remember that episode existing, so I much not have liked it very much.

"Thine Own Self" is solid, for sure top 25 episode I think. I don't think "Lower Decks" has been mentioned itt, that's one of my favorites for sure. I generally didn't like the sort of space horror/supernatural turn the series took in later seasons, but there were still plenty of really good episodes in season 6-7.

Both those episodes were great. I keep getting this thread confused with the one in The Lounge as far as what's been mentioned etc.

Riker is the nuts.

Any episode with Alexander is garbage

DS9 and all those other spinoffs were barely watchable unless you were 12. Which I'm guessing a lot of you were.
