i HATED janeway at first, but eventually i liked her. if you watched the whole series two times and still don't like her, then i don't think she is going to grow on you hahaha!

janeway had some decent jokes, and i ended up liking the way she played hero, and cared about her people

if you've seen those clips of the first woman they cast janeway... omg!

Janeway is awesome, **** the haters.

Voyager is worth watching for the doctor and seven, alone. Amazing Borg character development. Lots of great Q episodes.

I liked Kess, Tuvok and Tom Paris, too.

Any Star Trek hate list that doesn't have Westley Crusher at #1 is invalid.

riker was horrific, with that incredibly irritating phony smile that made me want to throw my tv out the window.

and i know wesley gets a ton of hate, but he wasn't THAT bad.

an actor i worked with was so close to being wesley crusher. he had 9 call backs.

a girl i met told me she was an extra on voyager. she said she played an alien who had a baby, but i don't remember any aliens with babies on the show

Okay, that's just you, though, right?

Riker isn't actually a hated character, is he?

I obv get the Wesley hate, but Wes and Wil Wheaton.

i'd guess ~25% of trek fans hate riker, probably like 40% like him.

riker reminds me of margarine. he's all greasy and fake

WTH Riker was awesome. He was basically the missing parts of Kirk that Picard didn't have.

Kira Norees not the most likeable but being right behind Kai Winn is nuts.

As far as Sato goes , I can't bring myself to find any attractive Asian annoying so just can't do it.

Seriously. If he couldn't even act by S7 he never deserved to be on the show.

I love it when villains get lots of get character development but when the Borg are more developed than Harry Kim in the entire show , there's something wrong there.

Janeway. This is more bad writing than acting but still bad nonetheless. There was an episode where 2 Ferengi are pretending to be local deities , using it for profit.

She's intent on stopping it. Beams the 2 Ferengi aboard .. at which point they give her a few lame justifications ... obvious BS ... at which point I'm expecting to hear her Janeway say " put them in the brig " but instead she's actually convinced by them and releases them.

For me that was the biggest WTF moment in ST history.

Janeway went from annoying to just being the worst captain in history , based on that one scene.

Of course 7 of 9 is nice eye candy and the Doctor was by far the most interacting character .. and he's a hologram. Says a lot about the rest of the cast.

enterprise did that with "shuttlecraft" or whatever it was called. and i think ds9 did it in season 6 with "in the pale moonlight"

I think "In the Pale Moonlight" is probably my second favourite episode of any trek.
Definitely one of the best ever , across every single series. Even Sisko's Kirklike overracting was just about perfect.

There are a **** ton of valid criticisms on very trek iteration. I get why Voyager gets hate, but I think it's more about being different, than it is about bein better or worse.

That's because Avery Brooks is an awful actor. But yup best episode of the series for sure. The only thing I would've preferred was if Sisko didn't seek Starfleet's approval for the plan and just went ahead with it on his own without them ever knowing.

You completely don't get Riker. He absolutely shares some attributes with a used car salesman but his character is well fleshed-out and it's quite clear his intentions are noble. If you believe actions are absolutely more important than intentions, it's also clear he's a good person on that count. imo.

riker's waist line is also fleshed out.

sure, he has noble intentions and actions. but he is just boring, with a little bit of creepy. his character would have been better if he had more pain and anger, was more dark, and less smarmy.

but i don't want to derail the thread with a huge riker discussion. i don't like him. a lot of people do like him. that's fine with me. i get that. we all still love the show

Darmok is a better Picard-centric episode than Tapestry. Don't think Tapestry is even a top ten episode tbh, more like top 15 imo.

Best of Both Worlds is massively massively overrated, it's not even the best two parter imo.

How do people hate Narys and Riker? How is Wesley Crusher not on this list? FAIL.

How can any TNG hate list not begin and end with Pulaski? The 2nd season finale should have ended with a space bug infecting the Enterprise's systems and she ends up stepping into a malfunctioning turbo lift shaft. Bonus points if you're under 30 and understand that reference.

you're right. pulaski should have been way higher on the hate list. she was god awful. she is probably number 2, right behind kai winn. pulaski might even be number 1. at least kai winn used to be nurse ratched. that was a true piece of art.

i don't know what i was thinking putting pulaski in the 8th slot

Something to do with some hated character walking into an empty elevator shaft on LA LAW, amirite?

I didn't start watching TNG until the third or fourth season so going back and seeing Pulaski was always really jarring for me. I had a huge huge crush on Gates McFadden.

Last edited by TheRempel; 11-24-2013 at 07:43 PM. Reason: oh it was actually the same actress who played Pulaski!
