I want to believe, but that last season really shook my faith that they'll ever recapture what used to make the show great. These little mini-seasons with no long-term future plans are pure AIDS for developing a compelling mytharc like back in the day, but hopefully they can at least come up with a few quality MotWs.

The were-monster episode last year was worth the return. I believe I read that episode's writers wrote a couple more this season.

This mytharc storyline is still as dumb and contrived as it was last season. Thank god it's mostly MotWs from here so there's at least a chance of some good stories.

Last season was awesome from beginning to end... not a good start so far, but perhaps there is a twist or resolution coming.

The characters seemed... out of character in this last episode. They seemed to act "unlike" themselves and the smoking man/father plot complication was comical.

I'm now happy to have the show back. There was only one good episode in the first season of the return, but every episode after the premiere this season has been good.

was the best ep of the new season easily so far imo. And Haley Joel Osment was pretty good in his role - thought he was washed up but I guess not.

still pales in comparison to any of the better early season X-Files eps, but we take what we can get nowadays.

I think what u noticed is the problem with the re-boot imho. the newer episodes don't have the energy or or the intensity of the early episodes. I know that is by design to a certain extent - mulder and scully are supposed to be older and the eps written as such. but I do think it is a noticeable problem.
