Would not have guessed they were independent. The wiki says AMC is a grandchild of Cablevision and thus related to HBO. Don't think they can blame this on cord cutting as their audience is pretty stream savvy.

Shows decline in ratings after 5 to 7 seasons or so. It's just how it goes.

partially true, but I'm certain Game of Thrones will continue to rise for 7 and 8.

The fall in ratings is due to it being ****. Weeks on end of Maggie gardening or Carol crying before ewe even get to see Rick and co again.

Yup - they were coasting and trying to stretch things out figuring what could possibly derail this speeding train. Then suddenly they had the fiasco of Glenn last season and the S6 cliffhanger, which I think caused a lot of folks to question themselves along the lines of "hey, wait a second - do I want to keep watching this show?" And when nothing headline-grabbing happened this season, they simply stayed away. Plus, a lot of female viewership hopped aboard Big Little Lies, which aired at the same time.

So basically at the end of season 7, we're back to the exact same spot we were at the end of season 6. So dumb.

Because these will be the last 2 seasons of the show.

The same would probably apply to TWD.

I don't think that's true.

Game of Thrones has remained quality throughout, yes there were a lot of issues with 5 and parts of 6 though but anticipation for the finale is immense.

TWD just got really stupid and dull this season, and has lost loads of viewers.

If you compare TWD to GoT, TWD will lose in every way, but so would most 7 season shows.

TWD wanted to be premier TV, but it never was and like most non premier TV it's just puttering out.

I remember season 1-3 when TWD topics were BUMPING. nowadays these threads are like a ghosttown.

i think TWD isnt a great show, i think its okay and the only reason i keep watching it is because I saw it since day 1, the pilot was more than great.

comic readers always are saying how TWD gets REALLY good when neegan saga ends so I am looking forward to that. I wonder how kirkman will end it all.

In my opinion, this is going to be one ****ing HELL of a show for a newcomer to binge walk 5 years from now. might be a GOAT binge show potentially imo
