Dom,

I think maybe you weren't really paying enough attention if you didn't love that episode.

Like, near the end, michonne says Rick it's not always your fault when someone dies and I'm like yeah good point that really hits home. And then Rick at first is like yeah, not always... but then totally takes it to the next level saying BUT SOMETIMES IT IS. Jesus. I mean, if you're not shaking a little after that I don't know what to say.

And then, just when you're like ok there can't be anything else in this ep, holy ****, the baby is Shane's kid AND RICK KNOWS IT. WOW!

Man I'm getting emotional just thinking about those moments.

Warning, a spoiler from comics lurks underneath. Could well be different in the TV show. May provide extra motivation for those who know they need to quit but feel plot committed.

I mean who the **** walks around talking like this idiot. It's awful

I don't even think his acting is all that bad. It's more that Negan is the most ill conceived cartoon villian of all time, just horribly written.

Good call, this was the worst one yet. Even worse than last week's painful to watch Duryl ep. This show is long past "so bad it's good" territory and at this point there's just no way it's ever going to be anything remotely worth watching.

Ahhh. I mean that's really dumb (Even if you have enough mattresses, no one is ever making another one, at least not in any of their lifetimes, but w/e). Just a cheap device to show how Negan is playing games with our heroes, in case we missed it in every second he's been on screen since last season.

Dom,

I just don't get haters like you. First you're going to quit because you say there's too much gory and gratuitous violence. Ok, fine, your prerogative.

Now they give you a multi-layered character and dialogue driven episode that does a deep dive into the inner motivations and conflicts resident in these characters, and now you're complaining again.

I mean, tell me you weren't on the edge of your seat with the balloon scene.

I want the truth!
You can't handle the truth!

What?
Say what again! I dare you! I double dare you mother****er! Say what one more goddamn time!

Balloons? Going to a party little girl?
Can I keep them please?

I thought last week's was the worst of the series, and that's really saying something. And yes, you're right, this was MUCH worse than that. I miss the halcyon days of Daleface and the Govna'

I think my favorite part was the fear the walking dead commercial (or whatever that was) saying how important it is to stab with a knife through they eye or temple to get to the brain, as hitting the skull won't work, right after Rosita stabbed multiple zombies anywhere in the skull she wanted.

Not sure I even believe you guys that this was worse than ep 3, but definitely not watching to find out.

Idk, I think the acting is a lot of it. Or to be more accurate the direction, because that guy is a decent actor and hes being directed to act like that. I think they didnt realize that cartoon villains work ok in comic strips, but need to be toned down a bit for live action.

I don't even know how I, the viewer, is supposed to interpret the Negan character. Am I supposed to just find him so unbelievable obnoxious that i hate him? Am I supposed to find him scary? Funny? Cool as hell? Badass?

He is none of the above. Well not true. it is a totally obnoxious portrayal, but i really think they want us to think he's awesome. Feel like the writers' room collectively beats off while discussing his dialogue. "Then what should Negan say?" "Uhh... well first of all, make sure you use a "**** eating grin" parenthetical." "That's a given." "How bout... 'well, looks like Ricky Poo has nothing else to say. What's the matter? Bat got your tounge?" "OH MY GOD, THAT'S INCREDIBLE!"

Also, I'll never buy the "leaders" on this show/in this world. People will tell me "well, in the comics Negan is actually good to his people and blah blah blah" like I care, but if someone from Rick's camp just flat shot Negan in the face, I don't believe his people would start a war. I know I'm supposed to, but I don't buy it. I feel like they'd just be like "ughh, thank you!"

I wish i could quit this piece of crap, but i need that hour of pure hatrid every week.

Word..I am never angrier though than watching the commercials for the Talking Dead and the ****ing idiots talking about "being together to get through this" or whatever **** they spew. Like the season premier episode this year they actually had people sitting out in the rain to discuss that pile of crap.

Thank goodness that episode was 1.5 hours. So much to unpack. Negan is such a nuanced villain. Just when you think this show can't get any better it dials up to 11.

Sadly this. At least before it was fun to say how bad it was, now it's bad-bad. I haven't had anything to say about it this season.

And the comic fans somehow wet themselves after some of the lines just because it's like the original.

Let's not forget we are still having a Tara episode, yall. Dividing the next episodes with Maggie, the Hilltop and Morgan/Carol/CGI-tiger, nothing is going to happen until the end of the season.

This - so much this. I wish I'd kept track, since I think there's a legitimately a decent chance that of the 85 minutes running time, more than 30 minutes was in the form of commercials. I do know that in one instance the show was back on for FOUR minutes before breaking to another series of ads.
