yeah, it really depends on the water table of the location. if i can't go 10+ feet deep, i'm going as deep as possible and putting traps at the bottom. the biggest thing you're looking for is a change of elevation that prevents cars from being driven right into the walls to knock them down or full speed running to the walls, + in this case, hordes of zombies pushing right up on your walls.
but the other thing is they aren't filming in Alexandria, Virginia (which having lived there, i can easily tell you there isnt that much wooded area around), but considering it's right off the Potomac River, the water table will probably be higher.
kinda curious if we're going to see seasons now. VA has winters. legit winters (compared to GA). winter of 2009/10 had 90+" of snowfall. it would be interesting to see what happens to walkers in freezing conditions
PS - there are no quarries anywhere near Alexandria. land is way way way to valuable. if you don't have like 600k, you aren't buying a place there. no one would ever waste that land on a quarry. this is almost as bad as when
24 was in DC and Jack Bauer was driving traffic free through the city and NoVA at like 3pm. yeah, sorry, no, not happening. multiple episodes should have literally been Jack sitting in his car in traffic surrounded by thousands of VA personalized license plates
