I thoroughly enjoyed the comedic value of this episode

I was watching it with a few buddies while downing some brewskis and we though that the episode was gold from a comedic standpoint

Will watch again

I will definitely be dropping some gifs of some zombies getting their face smashed in with a rock and/or other sharp/blunt objects

I think if everyone takes a deep breath and learns to live a little, we can all have a good laugh watching this show every week

Most everyone was gushing about how they had to watch this drivel in the beginning of the thread, because of reviews or their undying love of zombies (that's a pun right there, thank me later)

I managed to catch the marathon and loved how dumb their camp being attacked was. it's the middle of the night, let's all sit around this campfire and not secure our perimeter.

Then when blondies sister bites it, let's have her kneel over her and put her face within half an inch of her sisters face, because that's ****ing smart. Then when her sister goes all zombie, let's hold her face and have a conversation with her, while not securing her arms to keep from being scratched.

Ok, I get that maybe blondie has a death wish at this point, so I could buy that she might put herself in harms way. But all the other dbags standing around watching this happen instead of double-tapping the dead sis is just laughable.

These people couldn't survive a sunny day in Hawaii, let alone an f'ing zombie apocolypse.

If they're going to hang out in the woods there, setup a friggin' perimeter. Dig ditches and place sharpened stakes sticking up for zombies to impale themselves upon. Plus, it gives you high ground when defending the interior.

If you're going to have fires lit, put some on the perimeter to give you illumination, rather than letting the zombies have the darkness advantage while you light yourselves up as easy targets.

And good lord have a watch setup, maintain the buddy system, and don't let your friggin' kids wander off to find cool machetes in a truck.

And yes, LOL at everyone just sitting in a traffic jam to die, and then their subsequent zombies hanging around inside waiting for months until someone opens the door.

The effects work in this show is really inconsistent. Like the CGI of the zombie who attacked the blonde in the RV was movie-quality, but even simple shots like them driving down the interstate looked like ****.

Anyway, more nitpicking: I'm now convinced that there seriously was some other, unrelated disaster. That's the only thing that explains that random traffic jam. Look it how the cars are just kinda scattered on both sides of the interstate. That whole scene was like, reverse engineered from the idea that it would be cool to have a "hiding under cars" scene.

Also after the debacle of letting people just kinda hang out around camp unarmed with no perimeter or anything, a night where like half of their survivors died, the following lessons were learned:

1) All guns should be collected by Dale for safety. "The less guns floating around the camp the better."

2) RV door should be open so people can hang out. Everyone spreads out to go forage through a strange traffic jam, except they put the old guy on the RV as a lookout.

3) Lookouts should, if they spot zombies, alert one person and then take a nap. Literally the blonde chick was right under him! He couldn't try to tap on a window? What's the point of a lookout if not to alert people of impending danger?

If the writers somehow intended this I'd be extremely surprised.

I was hoping this show would be consistently great, intelligent, and riveting, like the pilot. That's clearly not going to happen, especially since at some point soon we'll get past the episodes where Darabount (the man largely responsible for the pilot) had a direct role. But I still think that it's watchable, and enjoyable to a certain degree if you can get past the plot holes (definitely tilt-inducing for those who care about those things) and melodrama (remember - this was AMCs most watched show EVER, and a lot of those were women, hence the Lifetime movie stuff).

RIDE TO LIVE

The deer talking and becoming their friendly woodland companion would have been sweet.

This show needs to get a lot better to be good, but just a little worse to be awesome.

Any chance the black guy from season one is the shooter? That seems like the kind of thing this show would do.

I'm not going to post them, but the "next time on The Walking Dead" montage had a bunch of spoilers regarding the kid's fate and where this season is going.

OK I'll spoil one:

My concern is that with so many people dead already, where do you really go with this show other than your typical "we made it" [cue sunrise].. the end.

I guess they could find a cure.. that rarely happens.

Zombies don't know how to open car doors IIRC.
Have they explained what makes someone a zombie? In some movies it happens to anyone that dies and in others it only happens if you get bitten. If in this universe it's the latter, maybe the street was swarmed by zombies so these people chose to die by dehydration rather than getting eaten.

If the kid dies of the gunshot wound then maybe my question will get answered (zombie kid kills off his mother or Shane one time please to end the horrid love triangle subplot).

The zombies would've smashed the windshields and killed people then. Plus, the people would've likely crashed their cars like crazy trying to get out, or kill zombies with the cars.

the writers were just trying to create a cool apocolyptic scene without giving any thought to how it made sense.

What's more ridiculous is that anyone would actually choose that as their ride, when there are mobs of monsters trying to bite and scratch you, you think you'd want to BE INSIDE something.

i havent watched the pilot since last halloween, something tells me that if i watched it now i wouldnt even be that impressed. i love the all is lost isolation scenes in movies, so maybe not, but part of the draw of the pilot was the things to come... which have been pure crap so far, so it kinda knocks it down a peg or 2.

A bunch of the posters in this thread did not know it was going to suck, they were talking about the review for season 2, and how they had hope, etc. But whatever, enjoy your troll costume for halloween

Ive not actually read the graphic novels, but the show feels like a graphic novel and its pretty hilarious how nitty some of the nits are over this show. Its just a goofy entertaining show with a bunch of people braining zombies with rocks or with screwdrivers who are trying to eat them. Pretty much ever zombie film ever was terrible on some level, why should a TV show about zombies not be?

My favourite right now is the "why didnt the zombies smell them, the show forgot!" which ive seen a couple times in this thread and the last one after the teaser. Zombies can tell people and other zombies apart by smell but they cant just smell people, that was never ever shown in the show. Also i think hating on the chick who said "i dont feel comfortable grave robbing" is hilarious given its intentional as she is meant to be hated. She is a heel.

Phill,

the reason people are so tilted is the pilot was very good and most of us hold AMC to a higher standard than other networks. so when we get a cheesy show with ****ty writing and non stop plot holes, we're pissed off because our expectations are high.

i agree with you that at this point, anyone expecting a brilliant show is deluding themselves.
